i liked it. very powerful.
loved the zombie turkey shoot and the last kill. loved glen and maggie's scenes. thank goodness andrea's letting go of the chip on her shoulder; finding some sort of equilibrium.
the only scene that didn't work for me was shane and dale's confrontation in the swamp. other than the verbal face-off, i don't see what that scene achieved.

My take was that it firmly cemented the tension between them while also setting up the final scenes of the episode (by having Shane get the guns). Dale was actively trying to prevent that turkey shoot from happening because it could get them kicked off the farm. Shane was hellbent on making it happen.

Last night's episode was utterly amazing! That was some damn fine TV and, I dare say, it surpassed the season 1 pilot. Glenn gets more and more awesome. The tension throughout really made it an experience.

the final scene, I loved how Glen looked to Maggie for approval even though at that point it didn't really matter. It was sweet. The ending was pretty powerful. Rick's moment at the end brought the conflict full circle, I feel. Best episode.

Zombies are dangerous enough without people acting stupid. For some reason that really bugs me in zombie material. I even laughed at something. But he knew and didn't tell anyone even after they found out about the barn? Wow, what a person. Maybe this show just isn't entirely for me.

kirkman raised a good point last night in 'talking dead'; in the first season, the first scene is rick gunning down a little girl zombie. we, the audience, barely blink. yes, it was extreme and intense, but its nothing compared to last night''s ep. sophia was a kid we knew. now you kinda get a taste of what herschel feels, even if you don't agree with what he's doing. -mike

I thought it might end up like it did, but with everybody peeking in the barn nobody noticed a little girl?
The series is hellbent on making you dislike certain characters and right now they are suceeding in making me dislike everyone except for Glenn & Daryl. Yes I'm including Maggie's irrationality in things that I don't like and don't add up.
Overall, pretty damn good.
and yeah I saw the parallels to the first scene of the series, even down to the doll (plush toy in the first scene, I think) that they kept refering to.

Since they love to show Otis' death so much, I feel the need to voice what I think every time: Shane's not a dick for killing the guy, but for killing him the way he did. Why not shoot him in the head so that he dies instantly rather than have him eaten alive?

Probably to distract the zombies while he got away.

I've liked Dale all of this season, but the second he started trying to hide the guns is the second he caught Andreanitis. What a bullshit thing to do. And he was going to throw the guns in the swamp?!? What. The. Fuck. Hide the guns under the house, somewhere close to camp in case shit pops off. Don't take it upon yourself to hide such an important resource. Ugh, agitated me so much. Especially, coming from such a likeable character.
Great episode though. I want to watch it again.

Loved how it showed that Rick is the leader of the group. He doensn't feel the need to puff his chest and cause a scene like Shane. James Brown had a song called Talking Loud and Saying Nothing - that's Shane in a nutshell.
Rick was willing to try and meet Herschel in the middle, by respecting his way of dealing with the Zombies while still on the farm. He compermised his emotions in order to maintain the peace. Then, when it all went to hell and everyone froze up - he was the one that was able to dig deep and do what had to be done in regards to Sophia. Good episode. I look forward to the second half of Season 2.

It was okay The zombies flooding out of the barn was lame to me Big deal, Hershel cries
I think I'm mostly pissed Dale didn't shoot Shane But I guess that's the point to hate Shane, so that worked
I thought the Sophia part was a rip But that's also me Comparing to the comic I'm sad for the loss of Carl's homie, before she got a chance
I like the Shane dale Andrea triangle and Maggie and Glenn but I just thought it was ok

maybe they know when something is alive or not. and only eat it when it's alive. Kinda like when they showed the girl break the chickens legs. why not just kill them.

And I'm assuming Shane thought he would make a bunch of noise and attract their attention I did like how Dale has figured it out Also either way he killed him, he's a huge dick for it!

Loved it. Really spiraled Shane into both a characters that's on a down hill trajectory but also a character that makes me think yea .. hes kind of a better leader then Rick, Ricks just a better human being. They make great counterparts to each other. That final scene was a total shocker to me. As a reader of the comic I never thought they'd kill her off so soon. And that's great, it makes watching the TV show fresh, knowing that there will be surprise departures like that.
