However, in my defense, I never ever felt that way when reading World War Z, or the comic series Walking Dead. I wish I could put my finger on what the difference is. I think part of it is the actors (Andrea's smirky face drives me crazy, as does Dale's eagle face -- petty, I know), and part of it is the internal logic of the show is just slightly off.

I think part of it is what you said above... when you READ WWZ or the comic... READING vs. Watching.  There's reasons why a movie never completely lives up to the book its based on.  When you're reading a story, even a sequential art story... your brain is filling in the scenes between the panels, what begins on the page gets fleshed out in your brain... that element is taken from you when that story is taken to the big or little screens.

I had this conversation with a friend recently, and I totally agree. How many times have you heard people jokingly talk about how they would survive the zombie Apocalypse? This does play into it for me. I can't help it.

That's okay. It's not as if you aren't entitled to have your own personal reaction to the show. Smiley

Roll On Floor Laughing I never thought of it as an "eagle face" before but with those eyebrows, he's like a human version of Sam the Eagle from the Muppets!

Well said. I think that difference between reading and watching has a substantial influence on how we respond to a film adaptation of something we've read. Watching and reading are very different experiences.

I'm still loving the show.  Swinging

I also think T-dog isn't that great of an actor. Since the show started they haven't written him into a scene that makes me think I need more of that. I would rather have more scenes with Daryl.  Whaaaat

How great would it of been if
If Shane had shot Rick. After the Dale death, I was thinking for a second it was going to happen.

It's odd. In a non-genre drama, a capricious nature (like Mary from Downton Abbey) is viewed as conflicted and nuanced, and adds layers to a complex, human role.

In The Walking Dead, Rick displays many of those same attributes but is deemed inconsistent. I understand that there's a zombie apocalypse going on and all, but human beings are still human beings. Personally, I would find Rick to be a far more dull character if he remained singular in his resolve. To see him struggle with the change that outside forces are imposing on him is far more interesting to me.

Boogie T-Dog did something and said something  Yes

We almost got T-Dog and Daryl on the road together? Man such a missed opportunity. Post apocalyptic odd couple!  Rock Horns DO IT!

So what now? Without Shane and Dale where is the internal conflict? Herschel is on board.

Last nights episode, Lori's nonsensical talk to Shane aside, was quite good. I like how the scenario at the end played out better then how it did in the comics. Good payoff to the tension.

well, at least shane is finally dead now and carl was wearing a science dog shirt.

but carl killing shane as a walker changes his character development quite a bit from him killing shane while living, it will be interesting to see where it goes.

The conflict will be coming from outside the group now. I think that is why they are forcing them to unify. You will need the group as strong as possible for
The Governor

If they really want the group to become strong and efficient though they need to level up and bring on the sword.  Yes

Slightly NSFW (Language)

I've only seen the first season, but I still found this funny.

Edit: decided I should put spoiler tags over it, because of language.

Finally...

Now please kill Lori.  Her character is just as bad, if not worse, than Winona on Justified.
