My wife was so annoyed by this part of the show that I didn't hear any of the dialogue that followed. She was too busy ranting until she was red in the face.
seriously? sure that scene was a bit of a stretch and obvious setup device... but rantworthy? only scene that took me out of the show was an INCREDIBLY minor thing. When the Zs were busting thru the wooden fence, the 2nd or 3rd one thru is a chick who's shirt was slipping off her shoulders, so she shrugs her shoulders to adjust it back up... not very zombie-like. Made me laugh, then i loved the episode all the more.

what about herschel's magic shotgun. damn thing fired about a hundred times before reloading! actually, i have no problem with it, it being understood he reloads "between the panels". my gripe is that it looked as if they were using and re-using the same shots of him firing. the Z's were always the same distance from him even minutes later. the amount of dead walkers surrounding him seemed the same throughout. -mike

I don't think that was minor at all, but a big cock up on the director's part. There was a couple of other zombies in that scene doing some "human" things too. They should have re-shot it.

i dunno, i had to actually rewind and watch it again to make sure i didn't just imagine it... i thought it was amusing and as it was essentially just an extra (albeit a prominent extra) in a TV show, it falls under an acceptable "whoops"

I want to do a guest role as a zombie just so I can brag about being "ball scratching zombie" to pick up chicks. I'll work, right?

They make 20 and 30 round drum magazines for tactical shotguns but not for the rabbit gun that Herschel had. It could have only held 5 max. And probably only 3 if he hadn't taken the plug out of it. These are the kind of continuity screw ups that really get to me. I can take a prudish zombie who doesn't want to show too much skin, or even zombies climbing a ladder but things like this,

I'm curious...for the people who haven't read the comic book, what did you think of the appearance of the character at the end?

i read the book, but only up to the farm. personally my knee-jerk reaction is, i'm a bit conflicted. WD started off going the "realistic" route, now having a katana wielding, zombie-chaining, sith-lord-looking bad-ass might upset the apple cart (her concept, taken on its own, it hella cool though.). -mike

I read the comic…but everyone at work had a lot of questions for me today (resident comic book guy), but it was interesting to see their reactions. I think most were pretty blown away by the imagery, some even said it was over the top (in a good way). I think a lot of them were starting to feel claustrophobic with the characters and situation and that final scene was really world opening for them.

About as realistic as a crossbow carrying biker racist turned child finding ideal team member. The crossbow while cool, isn't very practical. A new, legit crossbow still takes an expert at least 10-15 seconds to draw and load. Then you still have to get your sights and fire. And like Daryl, I'm sure that the katana isn't her only weapon. Just something for up close silent kills. And the poncho/cloak would make good camouflage, provide warmth and keep the weather off of you while leaving your arms free. I love both characters btw.

I was thinking you meant the "character" in the very last shot.
