So jazzed about comics after listening to so many topics in this episode and so funny. I think I only read 5 issues of Crimson. Guess I'm going to have to order up this Someday Funnies. I'd probably get the omnibus/complete collection if there was one. As soon as amazon discounts are mentioned my mind always goes back to the way that there list prices may be higher to show a bigger percentage off. Wolverine and the X-men

1) Euw And 2) The fact that I prematurely posted that without checking my graphics should tell you how excited I was. And 3). Yes, Vintz, it gave me a very nice happy. Thank you for not ganking the Wooooode on that one. And 4) Wood, you should know my father used to sing that to me. Not that this was a good thing because he was using it devisively after my mother left him, and he didn't live up to the lyrics anyway, but you were MAHBELOUS dahlink. And not even drunk.

I've been saying that Magneto & Prof X need to die permenantly and have Scott take Magnetos role and Beast Charlie's for a long, long time. Well, beast doesn't sell comics so they kind of did the same thing with Wolvie.
Prof X & Maggie to need to die. PERMANENTLY for the series to have any meaning (to me)
Death is wack. These books are never going to end the the dramatic effect of a death like that has no weight or is not needed. All that is doing is making someone else have to write some silly way for them to return all well and good. There are many more things that should be done and taken from effect of minorities in american culture that should be used with added punches to the face.

I know nothing but this, Dark Pheonix would probably mean a whole lot more if it weren't for the birth/rebirth ad naseaum that permeates the x-books. I'ma read it soon. I appreciate old X-men, the recent stuff...eh. Not floating my boat But why am I defending my viewpoint to you? You're favorite x-man is ol' stiff one-eye. Actually if Jean didn't come back then it would be stupid because that's what Phoenix does. And real talk she really technically only came back once. She only died in the Morrison run. Dark Phoenix wasn't Jean, she just made herself in Jean's image and memories to live a mortal life. If Gerry Conway taught us anything, it's that (as Julian once said) superhero deaths are dumb. Can't find some use for the character you're writing? Send them away. Maybe another writer would like a crack at 'im. But to kill them? Nah, son. Because when someone brings 'em back, your little story is lessened.

It also blew my mind when i noticed JG Quintels real voice is Mordacai's voice.
I really want a Crimson hardcover...so bad. My Crimson issues are in the UK still.

Hey guys. I love these kind of shows. All over the place. I have to say The Someday Funnies caught me by surprise when I first read about it some months ago. How could I have never heard about this? Jeez, if a project this extensive can languish for so long it makes me wonder what else could be out there. And what an oddity, huh? A project born in the 70’s regarding the 60’s and released for the first time ever in 2011. Nice lookin' book.
I liked Wood’s observation of Wagner’s Mage really feeling like a “creator owned” type of book. There was a lot of that spirit in the early to mid 80’s boom of “independent” comics. The direct market was expanding back then and there were very few precedents regarding the right or wrong way to do an action, superhero or fantasy comic independent of the big two. So these creators just came out swinging. Publishers like Eclipse, First, Comico, Dark Horse and Kitchen Sink ( not including the B + W boom stuff, which is another thing entirely) just blasted away and for awhile there you never really knew what you were going to get. A very exciting time for comics and I think these books (and their performance in the direct market) really put a fire under the asses of DC and Marvel to take more chances and experiment. Hell, I can’t imagine The Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, or Swamp thing being published in a vacuum. Zeitgeist at the very least.
Hey,Chris. Glad you liked the Ladronn Superman story from Legends Of The DC Universe. I just think J.O. Ladronn kicks all kinds of ass. From his work on Hip Flask (Check out those oversized hardcovers!) and Elephant Men to the Inhumans and all those great covers for DC he’s a total winner. The thing that really gets me about his Kirby homage is that I see a little Moebius in there, also. What a combination.
I’ve probably said all this before but any talk of Gil Kane makes me happy. The guy’s a master who never stopped refining his craft. I’ve read that in the mid 60’s Kane was very admiring of the “big action” style that Kirby was bringing to the Marvel books at the time. So much so that he moved into that style himself. Looking at Kane’s stuff from the mid 60‘s on I’d have to agree. Big panels, exaggerated gestures and a overall violence to the work that’s freakishly bad ass. Jeez, even a smile was scary when Kane drew it. (not to mention the tits, Vince) By the 80‘s he had really refined his process. Inking himself exclusively and getting into some insane detailing. The Sword Of The Atom stuff is from this period and it’s fantastic. I really love the stuff he did on Action Comics and Superman in the 80’s as well. Where the hell is the collection of those books?
Did I hear a mention of Pat Broderick? Fuck yeah. And Simonson’s Orion? Fuck yeah again. And Humberto Ramos? He’s a monster. All Star Western? One of the best books out there right now.
Yah!

I don't want to be "that guy" but my god, that 2 hour mark was epic. You guys went totally off the rails and just started talking about whatever came to mind. And I don't know if it was the shit week I had, the lack of sleep, or just ure love of the show but my god was it funny. I got a few looks riding the CTA home today.
