So I know I'm SUPER late to the conversation, but I just finished the episode today.

Regarding definitive stories for other characters, in particular Spidey, there is one that comes immediately to mind for me: Amazing Spider-Man #33, specifically the first 8 pages.

In those eight pages Ditko tells the reader exactly who Spidey is, what he does, why he does it, and how he does it. Steve tells that story in an incredibly dramatic fashion and leads the reader to a climax (both literal and figurative) that demands that the reader recognize Spider-Man's heroism and that what makes him a hero is his heart.

Just eight pages and it's the clearest, most exciting, vision of who the character is intended to be.

So I know I'm SUPER late to the conversation...
I don't want any one story to be the "definitive" story of any character, in any comics era.
We could talk into the wee hours of the night, comparing 1940's Bat with 1980's and 2000's Bat. Just have fun and read comics. Yes

I don't think that's an unreasonable position, but I don't understand why you can't have it both ways. To me, those conversations are part of just having fun and reading comics.

I'm even later to this one, Zack!

Just wanted to chime in that I, too, pre-ordered the Bob Powell book, and it's every bit as impressive as Vince said, in both content and presentation! Thumbs Up

Hey guys. I am far behind on my 11OC podcasts but am having a blast catching up. Just finished episode 190. I think this is my favorite episode of the year. You guys had some awesome discussions on Asgardian Wars, Dark Knight Returns and personal golden periods of comic sin our reading lives. Lively but fun and respectful. Those conversations are always the highlight of your episodes for me. Nice job. Wood did a great job in possibly getting me interested in checking out the GI Joe corner

btw, the CORRECT answer for definitive Batman story is obviously "THE MANY DEATHS OF THE BATMAN" (Batman 433-435 by Byrne and Aparo)!!!  Whistle

In a  few more hours I hope to be caught up on the other episodes I missed.

Keep up the great discussions. Cheers
