So in the end, it sounds like it is a little of all of the above. 3D brings in a bigger return, they were nervous about it flopping against the Avengers, Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises, and a common comment after test screens was an unhappiness about Duke dying.
If nothing else, it shows how important casting is. I strongly believe Duke was terribly miscast and now we are stuck with him.

The money they woulda lost on this could've gone to Joe 3: The Return of Duke... in 3D.

I was looking forward to it last year. Now, I'll probably wait for it home release so I can fast forward to tacked on Tatum sequences. Why does Hollywood keep giving this guy work?

Uhhhh, because people like him? Have you seen 21 Jump Street? Magic Mike? Ten? He's far better than a lot of people give him credit for.

Yeah I wasn't a big fan at first but he's been doing a good job. Good on the movie peeps for not killing him. (I'm assuming they don't kill him in the movie.)

Honestly, I don't have much of an opinion of Tatum in particular, but when the script and the directing are crap, even really talented actors can come across stiff and emotionless (I'm thinking of Natalie Portman in Episode 1 ) I don't know how big his role is (or was in the original cut), but the previews look pretty sweet no matter which way you slice it.

I am excited to see this. I hope it's decent. If anything, I think this movie is going to do much better now, than it would have done last June, because if Oz is any indicator, movie fans are ready for some blockbusters.

I don't know.....I am pretty nervous about this movie being any good. The casting of Adrianne Palicki was a red flag. But it is the inclusion of Bruce Willis that really causes me concern. I used to love the guy but all he does now is phone in the same elderly action hero role over and over. Hopefully there is more action than was shown in the trailer.
This looks like a rental to me. Will look forward to hearing what the forum thinks when they see it.

1 day to go! Good timing too because I scheduled a day off tomorrow even before I found out about the release date. Yo Joe, bitches! YO JOE! Haha - I watched that clip and I kept thinking to myself, "Why has nobody cut the ropes yet?" Duh! Because it's not the honourable thing to do. It's not the way of the ninja!

It's not the way of the ninja! Skimmed some reviews and ( spoilers for the Tatum intolerant): I have have to bite the bullet and check it out in theaters. Ignoring Tatum, the rest of the cast is fantastic: Dwayne Johnson Ray Stevenson Ray Park Walton Goggins Arnold Vosloo Yeah!

What's up with a Thursday opening? At any rate, called it a day and sitting in the theater now.
