Real talk: I look forward to the next time all 4 hosts discuss 1 book or series. The conversation is extremely interesting and a nice change of pace.
I agree. When all 4 are Talking about one book it's 11 o'clock at it's best. The Tiki

superspel & zack about the "Fuck You" aspect of the Miller Batbooks go, you have a point about the nature of the books, but I think DK2 is more of a "fuck you, fuck your mom, and fuck the world" statement rather than the other two. Miller seemed to have gotten most of that out of his system by the time ASBR came about, but it still features a prominant middle finger

I remember Vince going on at length about BATMAN RIP but I can't recall if FC has ever been discussed. I'm sure that one would lead to some lively discussion.

I think The Red was more of a Jamie Delano thing. Morrison was more about the Morphogenetic Field. Morrison may have named it The Red at some point, though I'm not entirely sure of that. It was definitely Delano that made it more of a horrific thing, in the fashion it's being used now. Lemire's run owes more, tonally at least, to the Delano/Pugh Vertigo run than the Morrison run, though obviously Delano's sprung from the groundwork Morrison (and later Tom Veitch) laid. Pugh coming back to the book brings it full circle.
Paul, I had the same thought while listening to the ep. From Wikipedia: After Jamie Delano's first six issues, wherein, among other things, he killed off the central character of Buddy Baker, created the "Red" and resurrected Buddy as an "animal avatar" (analogous to the "Green" of Swamp Thing), the series became one of the charter titles of DC's new mature readers Vertigo imprint with #57...And from a Jeff Lemire interview on The-Comics-News-Site-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Named: I'm drawing from stuff Grant did though. And I'm drawing a lot from what Jamie Delano did. His run gets overlooked. He wrote more Animal Man stories than anyone else ever has. I think Grant did 26 issues, and Jamie did more like 40 or something. And none of it has been collected, so a lot of people haven't read it. But it's full of great ideas. I was really inspired by reading his stuff.Source.

I'm sure that one would lead to some lively discussion. That would be great! I was so disappointed upon its release that I couldn't get (m)any good listenageature on it because the podcasts I listened to consisted of people who apparently can't recognize awesome sauce. It was so odd because if any series was MEANT to be discussed it was this one. Instead there were tons of episodes about something like Civil War, which don't get me wrong I didn't hate, but there was really nothing left to discuss post-reading. Only Julian Lytle was the jar of pure awesomer sauce spitting truth.

I don't even remember what I said i that. I remember i was also on the RIP episodes too. Final Crisis is my shit. Darkseid gives the thumbs down! That books is all about Superman and Batman being the worlds finest team. Especially once you add on RIP. the whole 7 Soldiers - 52- Batman - FC- Batman & Robin - Return of Bruce Wayne is on point.

Great episode that I just finished this morning. It really is a public service. First I was all, "I have to re-read Dark Knight Strikes Back Again with Returning Number 2" as it was a long time ago but after listening to 4 very knowledgable passionate gentlemen dissect it, I now feel like I don't have to.
We are living in a great time for comics with so many awesome comics coming out, Big Two, Indy, self-published, webcomics, (plus all the top notch stuff that we have access to that was previously published), it is great to have this as a resource on where to spend your time. I think if all I did was read comics1, I don't think I could read all the ones out there.
I don't comment much because I am always falling behind, but that allows for marathon sessions. EOC marathon day 2 is about to commence. Thanks again.
1Stupid Job. Of course I would still want to spend time with those I love, watch TV, movies, play video games, and other hobbies as well.

I heard David mention something about The Question appearing in DK2. Which issues did he appear in and was it just a cameo or was he part of the story?

Another GREAT episode! And someone FINALLY told Chris to shut the hell up when he entered into his all-too-common prank of sticking his head in the sand, refusing to listen, and endlessly repeating a single word, such as, "Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong...." Way to go, Vince! We all appreciate your attempt to discipline and educate the infantile drunk!

It's towards the end of the story and it's part of the story.

Yeah me too I was afraid that this thread would precipitate an EOC Civil War or a Crisis of Infinite Drunks event and we'd all have to be rebooted. Don't reboot me!
