I just wanted to post a bit late that Siege and Dark Reign are some of my favorite comics in the last 5 or even 10 years... and that said they would have worked just as well with Zemo or Red Skull or Magneto or anyone else instead of Norman. Yeah, Norman is not annoying, I like the way he has been handled, but it is still unecesary and screws up a great story from the past.

Never had a problem with Marvel Universe Punisher. Fun or gritty stuff and if the writer was good he worked his way into the story perfectly. Sometimes it`s weird to think about who wrote the stories. Like DnA worked on Force Works?!

Totally behind what was said about Osborn coming back. What bugs me just as much if not more than characters coming back though is character being unconscious or missing and writers assuming that they are dead. Its like a personal hang up.

I always go with the 80`s for a comic era since it`s before I started reading.

The Thunderbolts is the one I always go back to as a shocker since once I found out about it I had to buy that book. Such a great premise and still be fun. Gotham Central had some great moments too that were not publicized so things happening in that book were more shocking than a lot of super hero books out there.

The greatest living cartoonist IMHO is Bill Watterson  Yes

Is Hernandez really greater than someone like Naoki Urasawa or Moebius? Look at the former's body of work, and his magnum opus (which is debatable) is not overshadowed by Love and Rockets at all.

I'll say it again-Superhero deaths at this point are stupid. They serve no point, they have no effect. All they do is try take a toy out of the box. At a point it's just mad arrogant to think that you can kill a character and someone else doesn't want to write or draw that character. I'd just bring them back too. The only death that should happen is the never see the body death since if you don't see the body they ain't dead.

Agreed.  You can take characters off the table for a while, and have *other characters* think that so-and-so is dead, but making an event out of it that readers are supposed to get hype about isn't viable any more.  It's hard to imagine that anyone (except maybe a brand new reader) can believe that a DC or Marvel character is "really" dead.  Maybe if you can do self-hypnosis, you can summon up that kind of suspension-of-disbelief.  Otherwise, it just doesn't work.  Now, I say all that, but that issue of FF where the Torch "died" did sell.  But why?

I think Chris said working and sadly Mr. Watterson has been retired for a long time.

Those of you who know me know that Jaime is my pick (with all due respect to Urasawa, Moebius, Panter, et al).

I finished listening to the episode, which has to be one of the best this year.

I loved the discussion on favorite shocker. Alpha Flight #12 is up there when it comes to shocking endings. Another one is New Teen Titans #34. Not only does it end with a lead into New Teen Titans Annual #2 with a bomb in Adrian Chase's apartment complex, but right before those pages, Wolfman and Perez revealed that Terra was a spy for Deathstroke!!! That was a huge shocker for me.

Another great shocker from recent years was the reveal of Xorn in Morrison's X-Men run and
the way it appeared that he defeated the X-Men.
I never saw that coming.

I agree, I liked Dark Reign and Siege was funtastic but they could've done it with some other villain. I kept waiting for Doom or Namor to snap that clown's neck but that never happened.

I hear ya Vince. The wifey is L.I. plus allergic to gluten as well as some other shit I cant pronounce but is in every cosmetic product. Needless to say, my diet as well has become "special". I look forward to my lunches at work so I can eat whatever. She says these pills called "digestives" help for the L.I. when she's not sure if something has lactose in it or not. Also, if you didnt know, you can eat aged cheeses, cuz they age all the lactose out of it. Parm, Romano, gruyere, etc.
