My head hurts

I'm loving it, lol!  I've been heading towards all this for a while now, getting my skills up, collecting ingredients and soul gems, etc.  I want to make some epic gear!

I've been taking a break from Skyrim but I just wanted to add that ever since the most recent Patch for Dungeons of Dreadmore (cant recommend that game enough) sometimes when monsters attack you they geet a speech bubble that says "Fus Roh Dah!".

* Dungeons of Dreadmore is an oldschool roguelike, with simple but cute graphics and most skills are parodies of fantasy abilities such as "Emomancy", "Piracy", "Necronomics", "Veganism" and "Archeology" which equips you with a fedora.

Wasn't expecting to play last night, because I had hoops practice with one of my boys until 9 pm. But when I got home my wife was exhausted and said she was going to read and hit the hay...which meant, 'RIMMING!

 Shifty Eyes

What I thought was going to be an aimless night turned out pretty fruitful. I first had to delete hundreds of save points and, true enough, that stopped the game from freezing and REALLY helped the load time lag.  Rock Horns

I was all set to fight some Alik'r dudes in the name of my girl from Whiterun, and then head back to destock and do some selling. But then I figured while I was out I might as well go handle the radiant question Aela gave me over in Markarth. I HATE Markarth, but rolled there, killed an ice wraith, and then stopped by the stores and sold about 4,000 worth of loot.

Just decided I would stumble around for a bit and discover little stuff, and ended up coming upon a little shack where a Hargraven lived. Killed her. Turns out she was the skank I drunkenly married when I got drunk at the start of the game. Who knew? I had totally forgotten about that side quest.

I looked and the shack was close to Morvunskar, which was the next place that side quest sent me on. SO I went in sight unseen. I get attacked by five or six conjurers and mages immediately, but I'm so BAWSE at this point that I just shot them and their little creations in the face with drarven fire arrows and made quick work of them. Ended up finishing up that quest and landed a Daedric Artifact  Rock Horns

Had I not just wandered around with no plan, I may have never consciously finished that quest. I didn't even know it was a Daedric quest, figured it was just some little side quest.

So then I head back to Whiterun to destock and realize that that Companions radiant quest was what was keeping me from going forward on the main Companions line. So I went and found Skjor and
became a kick ass werewolf,
then proceeded to wipe out a fort full of Silver Bloods.  Rock Horns  I also noticed that this pair of Muffle boots I found combined with my high sneak is crazy. I thought it was a glitch at first, because I was shooting at Kev the Skinner (the Silver Blood boss) and he was just taking it, without coming after me. I realized after that I'm so stealthy now, he had no idea I was there, even though I was very close to him.  Yes Yes Yes

On the way back, just for shits and grins, and went and found some giants to beat down.

Now I'm back at the crib, resting and contemplating how I need to get married. I'm eyeing up Aela. She seems legit in a LOT of ways.

I just started playing today. I bought it during the Steam sale but hadn't had a chance to install it until today. So far I love it. I'm only level 3 but I can already tell I am going to lose a lot of sleep to this thing. I can't wait for the kids to hit the sack so I can fire it back up.

I finished the main quest today.

Daedric Waraxe and some fireproffing armor and I killed Alduin. He was easier than killing a Dragur Death Lord.

I got in about 10 hours so far this weekend.  Finally wrapped up the Thieves guild AND the main quest line.  Thinking about settling this civil war once and for all now...

Level 38 and still not doing any of the main quest yet beyond the first part at the very beginning of the game.

Stumbled into my first Falmer hive last night (Liar's Den). Fun stuff.

Y'all stop playing?  Thinking

I mean I know some of you are further along, but do we gotta wait for some DLC content before you get fired up again?

I played this game like it was a job for two months, but that means I was winding down about the time you were starting up.  It's been fun to read your updates, though.

Ultimately, the only major stuff I didn't do was: most of the Empire side of the Civil War (it seems very similar to the Stormcloak side), finishing a couple of Daedric quests, and some dungeons.  So yeah, for me at least, it's going to take DLC to get me embroiled in it again.

While I wait, I'll be tackling Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning here in a couple of weeks.  No direct comparisons, but I think it'll scratch my ever present itch for open world, single player role-playing games.

That's exactly it for me. Completed the first played through at over 140 hours. Best game of the year. Tons left to do. But I need to...."see other people" for a while. I left poor Batman stuck in a warehouse a few months ago trying to save the wife of Mr Freeze......I think he is still there in that warehouse. Also need to dust off Mass Effect 2 for another play thru before the 3rd game comes in March.

But no doubt I WILL be playing Skyrim a second time thru - catching all the guild action I missed the first time. And waiting for DLC is the best carrot to use (for me). I did the same thing with Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

You know what I have barely done since Skyrim came out? Read comic books.........got to get back to that too.

I still like reading other people's adventures - I am stunned by the number of quests listed here that I did not do.

As someone new to this generation of console games, how massive should I expect DLC to be? Roughly what percentage of the original game will this add?

For example, will DLC likely be another 10% to the overall game? 20%? 50%?

Great question.

For other Elder Scrolls games (and I didn't play all of the Morrowwind and Oblivion expanions) I believe the average was 30-50 additonal hours of gameplay (maybe 20% more map space?) per exapansion. Fallout DLC were smaller but there were more of them.

But for Skyrim, I am not sure what to expect. My guess would be they will add a new section of map and enough for at leats 50 hours of additonal questing. Probably a self contained story will be involved.

That seems like an ambitious estimate to me.  Shivering Isles, Tribunal and Bloodmoon were around 20-30 hours, if thorough.  Most DLC, by most companies, are maybe 10.

If we get more of an "expansion" rather than a typical DLC, which given what Todd Howard has said and what Bethesda has done in the past seems fairly likely, it'll probably be at that high end (30 hours).

I was reading that because of the extensible nature of Skyrim, and the fact they're going to let the developer "God" kit into the wild soon, it's much easier to construct massive DLC for the game than many others. Does that sound right? Will user-generated DLC be available or are the publishers very strict about not crossing that line, because they would have to pay the users a piece of the pie?

Not Straight Edged... Or Noir

I was in NY for most of the end of last week and the weekend, so just a little time for Skyrim yesterday.

I'm level 40 and just made my first set of Dragon Scale armor. I have a literal TON of Dragon Bones so I think I'll make a set of the heavy armor for resale or to pimp out my followers with.

The Thieves Guild side quests are almost an annoyance now and I just want to finish them so I can move on to the Mage stuff.

I'm going to buy my new house in Solitude because Whiterun is getting cramped. I think I'll just make that my Summer cottage Wink
Seriously though, my need to organize stuff makes this game an OCD dream. I need the space in the Solitude house so I can display the cooler weapons I'm not using, display the cooler armor I'm not using, store all of my alchemy ingredients/clothing/potions, black smithing supplies/clothing/potions, enchanting materials and then my food in different places.
I have one chest in Whiterun that has turned into my junk drawer and it's driving me nuts.

I actually spent a half hour (real time) collecting all the wooden plates, bowls, tankards, ruined books, paper, junk and crap that made it's way into the house and walked it down to the Whiterun Stables and threw it all on their front lawn.

I am a terrible neighbor.
