I was reading that because of the extensible nature of Skyrim, and the fact they're going to let the developer "God" kit into the wild soon, it's much easier to construct massive DLC for the game than many others. Does that sound right? Will user-generated DLC be available or are the publishers very strict about not crossing that line, because they would have to pay the users a piece of the pie?
There will definitely be a ton of mods (basically user generated DLC) but only on computer. Bethesda actively encourages it, and there has been a million mods for both Morrowind and Oblivion. It gets more complicated when Microsoft/X-box Live is concerned because, among other reasons, user created mods are free.

I was in NY for most of the end of last week and the weekend, so just a little time for Skyrim yesterday. I'm level 40 and just made my first set of Dragon Scale armor. I have a literal TON of Dragon Bones so I think I'll make a set of the heavy armor for resale or to pimp out my followers with. The Thieves Guild side quests are almost an annoyance now and I just want to finish them so I can move on to the Mage stuff. I'm going to buy my new house in Solitude because Whiterun is getting cramped. I think I'll just make that my Summer cottage Seriously though, my need to organize stuff makes this game an OCD dream. I need the space in the Solitude house so I can display the cooler weapons I'm not using, display the cooler armor I'm not using, store all of my alchemy ingredients/clothing/potions, black smithing supplies/clothing/potions, enchanting materials and then my food in different places. I have one chest in Whiterun that has turned into my junk drawer and it's driving me nuts. I actually spent a half hour (real time) collecting all the wooden plates, bowls, tankards, ruined books, paper, junk and crap that made it's way into the house and walked it down to the Whiterun Stables and threw it all on their front lawn. I am a terrible neighbor. You. Are. Hilarious. I was all set to be like Don Trump in this bitch and buy real estate all over. But now I'm reconsidering. In Whiterun I've got... A drawer for smithing ingredients A chest for weapons A chest for armor The apothecary bag for potion ingredients My books in the book cases Not sure what else I need. And with fast travel, it's so easy to bounce back and forth. I MAY buy one in another town simply to make it easier to smith/enchant stuff nearer to where I can sell it for mad ducats, but at this point I'm beginning to think I don't need much more money. I'm just trying to whoop some non-humanoid ass and keep filling up those soul gems and cull dragon souls, too.

The house in Solitude (and it's mega sweet) has a way you can trick the game into getting it for free. Just wiki it. It also can have an enchanting table which is nice. I'm getting tired of running up to Dragonreach every time I want to enchant something. There is btw a special soul gem that will trap human souls. It's a one of a kind though.

I'm level 48, I've bought all the houses, and I've currently got about 250,000 gold in the bank (or my backpocket) and about another 400,000 gold worth of junk I can't sell because it'll take me too long to sell (all the enchanted stuff I've made and potions I've brewed). I'm pimp. Plus since my last update I'm still on my Word Wall missions from High Hrothgar. I just battled 2 dragons at once, too. A plane, wimp-ass dragon and an Elder Dragon. I think my horse killed the plain dragon after I shot a couple of arrows into it while waiting for the Elder to land again. HILARIOUS!

If you are on PC you will get the user generated mods for free. They will most likely (like 99% sure) not be available for any other platform. I would expect to see the larger mods (more story, more locations, etc) to not start rolling out until around the summer, with the long wait being mostly to do with the amount of work a really good mod takes, at least the ones with substance. As for DLC from Bethesda, what other people are saying about the size seems about right. This will be the first Bethesda game I buy the DLC for.

I have a draw for Jewelry, A drawer for Extra Books, A draw for Smithing Supplies and a draw for Mage stuff. My chest is full of weapons I plan on destroying in the name of enchantments. I'm level 43 I think I'm done with the main quest just have Dark brotherhood, thieves Guild and Civil War left to do.

I've got up to the investor Speech perk and I've invested with all 6 merchants in Whiterun (although you can sell to Warmaidens twice because her husband buys stuff off you too). Plus every time I complete a dungeon I have enough stuff + souls collected to enchant everything I've just picked up to clear them all out, this results in 10,000+ for each dungeon cleared with stuff left over so I just stash it. I also waited until about level 35 to start crafting (smithing/enchanting/alchemying???) so I had huge stashes of material to craft with and ended up with way too much stuff to sell at once so I never bothered. Its all sitting in the two drawers outside my bedroom in Breezehome.

Awesome. How many hours in are you, what's your total level? I ask because while I too found those Speech perks intriguing, as I mapped out how I wanted to spend my perks, it was tough to justify filling up that tree if I also wanted to max out: Archery, One Handed, Smithing, Alchemy and Enchanting.

Yes. Lydia is really annoying. Most followers can be killed, but only by you. Usually they will get to a point where they're so hurt they will just take a knee. But if you accidentally attack them (in a melee, or using a magic spell or a shout), while they're beaten up, they can die. Some followers, later in the game, are considered important NPCs and are basically immortal. You want to grab one of those as a follower (if you want a follower) when you get the opportunity.

Someone just informed me of a glitch that quite frankly breaks the game, if you abuse it. But I'm going to try it on a lower level just to see...it's too fascinating not to at least try.

I accidentally killed Lydia and simultaneously died myself. The only reason I know that I killed her is that I got the notification that I couldn't capture her soul. I do love using her as a pack mule though. Encumbered? BAH!

Do tell.
I haven't done it yet, and it seems like a combination of a time suck AND a major glitch, so I doubt anyone would want to play out this beyond just testing it and seeing it happen. Have some clothes with Fortify Alchemy on them...put them on Create a Fortify Restoration potion Drink the potion Take off all your gear, put it back on Create a Fortify Restoration potion Drink the potion Take off all your gear, put it back on Rinse Repeat Very quickly you will start creating exponentially high potions (we're talking in the millions if you want to go that high)...at which point you can then create say a Fortify Smithing potion or Fortify Enchanting potion and BAM, create God like stuff and abilities. One demo I saw showed a guy using leather gear that was maxed out such that he was jumping off the Throat of the World and landing at the bottom without seeing his health gauge diminish, and then he was standing toe to toe with an Elder Dragon, as the Dragon tried biting him it did nothing to his health, and then he killed the dragon with one punch with his fist. Here is a YouTube vid that walks you through it:

Yep. This is by far the most egregious glitch I've come across. This is quite a bit beyond say attacking Shadowmere repeatedly to up your one-handed attack, or sneaking up on one of the Greybeards and attacking repeatedly to up your Sneak. This is literally breaking the game. The video of the guy barehand punching the elder dragon was funny though.
