Good to know. I discovered last night that it was better to enchant, sharpen and smith anything that I find, then sell it. Helps raise the skill and make some more gold.

If you spec in duel wielding magic does that allow just casting two spells or can you cast a spell and use a sword at the same time?

Travis

Do you mean overcharging a spell?  It does take both hands so you can't be holding a sword AS you cast it, but if you "favorite" your weapon and spell, you can jump back and forth real quick both at the outset of the battle and during it (you can also have a, say, a fireball spell in each hand and fire them separately).

I have an Ebony Sword and an Ebony Bow, so I fire arrows until they get close to me and just hit down on my D-Pad to switch over to sword and start wailing away.  You can do the same with spells and a weapon.

Did anybody else buy the house in Ulric's hometown (Windhelm?) that was the home base of the murderer court wizard guy and have all the bloodstains and dissected skeletons still be everywhere in the house?

I finally ran into a couple problem with this game.  Farkis and I were running around messin fools up; I jump into werewolf form and he attacks me!
I know werewolf form freaks out some followers out, but Farkas is A GODDAMN WEREWOLF!!/spoiler]

Something else I noticed is when I was doing the Markath stuff (what a godawful town) and the obviously corrupt guards started coming down on me, Vilkas, who is supposed to be my shield brother and what not, stopped following me and started to beat me up.  I had to reload and send him home to do the mission.  I thought these were to rather odd errors on Bethseda's part.

HOLY MOTHER OF MERCY I AM SO PUMPED TO GET OFF WORK:

http://www.bethblog.com/2012/02/07/happy-modding-day-creation-kit-skyrim-workshop-high-res-texture-pack-released/

New official HD texture pack for Skyrim (free DLC) direct from Bethesda.  Not sure if this is releasing on console, but I'ma playing on PC, so this is going to freaking

 Drool Drool Drool

No way that high res pack goes to console, requires GFX cards with more than a Gig of memory, consoles don't have a gig of memory in theentire system. Also, it is a 3.5gb download, which just seems crazy.

There are already a ton of mods up on steam which is cool

It doesn't seem to replace every texture in the game, but the ones it does replace look pretty freaking nice!  The 3 gig download took about an hour on my Comcast connection.

A lot of the mods on Steam at this point are barebones test mods, but they should get better as time goes on.  I did install the arrow crafting mod, but haven't had time to play with it yet.  I'm looking forward to crafting some Ebony arrows!  I also installed a mod that greatly enhances the quick menu, but that was not through Steam.

Do you guys like/use a horse to get around?  I've generally found them to be less enjoyable than setting out on foot to explore the land.  What am I missing?

Also, it was mentioned earlier in the thread but the skyui mod is fantastic.  Big time improvement on the inventory system.

Finally was able to play some last night. Mined a ton of gold, raised my smithing and enchanting, did some minor quests. I've been exploring the far eastern reaches of Skyrim. I finally got to Markarth, can't wait to check out the city.

I had avoided horses like the plague, but last night ended up with Frost, after completing the quest and deciding to threaten Lutush with his life instead of giving him the horse. But the damn horse forces you into this wonky 3rd person perspective and, at least on the XBox, I was seeing a lot more frame rate disappearance while moving around on him. So I killed poor old Frost and left him by the side of a cave for the bears and Trolls to find.

It was annoying riding around on him.

Every time I zipped past a creature on him I felt inadequate, yet stopping to dismount and then fight also was sub-optimal. I'm a man of the feet...I prefer to walk the walk, and bow the bow!

I just found the button on the 360 that makes you run a couple days ago.
I had been "fast walking" everywhere before that.

Not as bad as a guy I know that didn't discover the fast traveling for over a month...

Running is cool, but I almost never do it. I sneak 95% of the time, with my bow at the ready.

SO yeah the new update is out and its fixed the Markarth glitch. Well at least I think it did. I am running about there without being stopped by guards now.

Do you sneak outside of dungeons?  That sounds entirely painful.

I love sprinting all over the map, sword drawn magic pumping.  It's awesome to fly into a wolf pack and then annihilate.  I have some enchantments on my equipment to boost my stamina regeneration, so I'm rarely having to take a breather.

Yep, it's all about how you evolve your character.

I'm an archer, thief, pickpocket. Rarely use magic, in fact the only magic I use are shouts.

Agreed. I too abandoned magic. From level 20 onwards I just decided charcter was a Two Handed Sword Wielding Armoured Viking and tried to keep mostly in character. Money was never an isue so I replaced magic with potion use. Also.....I was hoping would be an opportunity to lead the Stormcloaks instead of Ulfric. My viking was waaaay better than that guy!

I raised my smithing up to 100 last night. I wasn't sure whether or not I should go with dragonplate or dragonscale armor. Just to be same I forged a set of each.

Ha! Nice.

I'm still rolling in my Daedric Armor. It looks bawse and I see no need to offset the way I look for a few extra points of armor/attack when I'm already seemingly invulnerable at this point.
