Am I to assume that currently I am the only one playing Skyrim on the forum?  Better late than never I guess.   Tongue

the Tiki Freaky Tiki

NO! you're not. Because of time constraints I can only play one or twice a week, for a couple of hours at a time.
Right now I am a level 36 sneak Khajit. I often travel with a small army. Two dogs(Meeko and Barbas), Jordis, and whatever atronach I summon.

This.  Not playing currently, as I put in my initial 130 hours.  DLC will be great, though.

I have come SOOOOOOO close to defeating my first dragon about 6 times last night.  I get the sonovagun down to a sliver of health and then he pops me in the final seconds.  Humph!

A few questions for the group:

- Does anyone know how to differentiate one handed weapons vs two handed by name alone?  I am going the board and sword warrior route.

- How/whe do you go to learn how to disenchant an enchanted weapon... And in turn, learn how to enchant the weapon you have?

- Even though I have chosen to be a Warrior can my character still do a little magic?  From videos I have watched it seems like some people are carrying heavy weapons AND shooting fireballs from their hands.

Thanks.

Don't worry. You will soon be killing dragons like they are ants!

re: one handed vs two handed. Occasionaly you will be able to tell a one handed from two hander by name, but mostly not. Easist way is to equip and see (fyi, later when you enchant weapons you can name your weapons)

re: enchanting. You will need to put a few points into the Enchanting skill. As well, you will need to visit an enchanting (crafting) station to disenchant (and thus learn new enchantments) and enchant new weapons.
- Note: In order to enchant a new weapon you will need: to have learned an enchantment (from disenchating), a weapon to enchant and a soul gem (with a soul inside).
- you can find an enchanting station in the Jarl's palace Dragosnreach in Whiterun - with his wizard Farengar. You can buy soul gems from him and use his enchanting table.

re: Magic and weapons and armour. Hellz yes. You can use any combination of thieving, archery, magic use, warrior fighting you like. Any combo that you prefer.

Enjoy!

Killed a Dragon?  √
Bought a house? √
Disenchanting enchanted items? √

Enchant new weapons with those learned enchantments?  X

I have no idea how to attach the enchantments I learned to new weapons.  I know you need soul gems but I have no idea which ones to use (there are 6 versions).  Can anyone enlighten me here?

Thanks.

The different gems are just related to potency, with petty gems being the weakest (and most readily available).

When you go to enchant weapons (or armor or other items), and you select a gem, you will see the attributes change. By toggling between different types of gems you will see the effects. The power of these effects also goes up over time as you level up your enchanting skills, and also if you use/wear items that raise enchantment.

I wish I had purchased it for PC instead of PS3 for the mods alone.  And my wife has evicted me from the TV since she's fallen in love with Korean Soap Operas.  So if someone wants to trade the PS3 for the PC version PM me  Cheesy

Cool, SkyUI is a must in my opinion it improves the UI that much.

I am a big fan of graphical mods (larger texture size, better view distance, anything that makes the game look better) but I rarely go in for stuff like Total Realism because I think it takes some of the charm out of the game. That is just me though and I understand why people like it.

It's all about the weather for me. In Seattle when the sun starts to peak out my family and I are out all the time. We got lucky and have had a early sunny May/June so my game and comic reading time goes down drastically. I'll be back on, hopefully with DLC in Spetember/October.

Haven't played Skyrim in a while as I am giving my other games the love and attention they deserve but the first DLC for Skyrim came out today.  Might have to fire it back up soon and check it out.

I've been trying to get myself excited to play Skyrim again so I can play this DLC.  Normally that wouldn't even be a problem, but I seem to have burnt myself out on Skyrim, playing it for 170 hours as I did (and reading reviews and articles for weeks before its release.)  On one level, it depresses me that I feel that way, but I can't MAKE myself want to play something I don't want to play.  Maybe in a while.

Yeah, one of my rules is I play for fun.. which means I have not finished Skyrim yet. I love it, but I get burnt out easy on games (I probably have a thrid of your hours) and every time I boot skyrim it is with the understanding that it is for a few hours. That said I'm loving it as a "few hours each month" game.

That said all Bethesda games age like wine, with more and more patches, community content and dlc.

I am not near the time investment as you are but I did have to pull myself away from the game, not so much because I was burnt out but becuase I was staying up till 2 or 3 in the morning getting sucked into some cave for 4 hours.  When you are bleary eyed and tired yet still looking for iron to Smith something in the middle of the night, it makes you reexamine some things in your life.   Cheesy

The other issue is that I bought Skyrim at the time I bought Batman AC, CoD: MW3 and Gears 3.  I finished Gears 3 but then got completely consumed by Skyrim that I didn't play the other games much, nevermind the arcade games I have and other things.  So I took a break to have some fun as Batman and check some other games out.  Knowing the time investment some have put into Skyrim I know it is there when I want to go back and there will be plenty of game left for me to explore.

If work would stop getting in the way I would have much more time for comics and video games...

Currently downloading Dawnguard. I've had a good break from Skyrim (played a lot of Trials Evolution) and am ready to get back into it. Yay!

What does that mean in US currency?

I'm only level 15 right now and there is a HUGE part of the World of Skyrim I have yet to step foot in so I will probably hold off on this for right now.  Is there a level MAX for your character in the game?

There are always deals to be had in terms of points (retailers put the prepaid cards on sale sometimes), but the standard IIRC is 80 points = $1, so the DLC will cost $20.
