How was it?
Amazing…really goes to show you how important rice is to sushi, and how that extra care REALLY makes the sushi.

Yeah I've made it with not so good rice and it kinda ruins it (at least, for me). I'm a bit of a critic when it comes to sushi. I think having worked briefly as a sushi chef ruined things for me a little Tongue

May 5th

Some great DVD finds this weekend at the garage sales...All I need now is a copy of the original widescreen Star Wars: A New Hope and all will be right with the world...That Willy Wonka in widescreen is not an easy one to get either...

A great comic work...

May 6th...

I think I would be depressed if I had to live in a place like this.

yes, I was one of the great unwashed which contributed to the kitty this weekend...I can not remember the last time I paid $20 to see a movie, but I have been promising my daughter since December to see it opening weekend and not wait until it was at the dollar theater.

Disney/Comic weekend here.  Friday night was Avengers.  Saturday was FCBD.

The line at Golden Apple waiting to open.  Had fun and ran into Bob B. for the last 2 of my 5 store run.

Sunday was Disneyland to round out the weekend.  We got there early morning before opening when all is quiet.  Hope everyone had a fun weekend.

Day 119

Watched the Star Wars Trilogy Friday night with this guy. He is kind of a dedicated fan.

Day 120

Mr. Eric Larsen stopped by Isotope. All the copies of the new Supreme and Savage Dragon were signed.

Day 121

Early morning walkabout. Spotted some Sky Rats pretending they were Odin's Ravens (who keen eyed Avengers viewers may spy during the first Thor and Loki meeting.

Day 121 BONUS

Murdock needs a drink!

May 7th

Arugula pesto.  Pretty easy too…pumpkin seeds, olive oil, garlic, romano cheese, salt and pepper.  Oh yea, and arugula.

Yesterday went to check out a new location that sells comics.  It is right off the red line a few blocks east of the Hollywood and Highland station.  Snapped this pick on Hollywood.  This was a small room in a tattoo shop.  I like when they put comics in unusual places.  Get different people to look at comics.  The comic selection was just a room but a nice mix.  They had dollar back issue boxes.  The biggest display was trades which makes sense.  I think giving a floppy to a new reader is risky.  Lots of Goon trades.  They had art on the wall as well.  They had a shelf of new floppies but it was in the corner.  I likely won't shop there but glad it is there.  I heard about them through the FCBD website.  I think they should do well because they don't need the comics to pay for everything.  Hopefully they make money on the tattoos and the comics is just extra gravy on top.

Comic Book Junkies but the name on the door is Kayden Creations (the tattoo place).  If you are in the neighborhood, I would advise going to Meltdown or Golden Apple as they have very large selections.

P.S.  I did like that free sketch you got.  Might have to check out this Ryan Kelly.

That Scioli piece is sweet.   Thumbs Up

Late lunch today and tried a new Ramen joint (well new to me).  Ramen Jinya.  Pretty good stuff but maybe a little pricey

I realized after I took the picture, it formed a hidden Mickey a la Disneyland.

Day 119

Do you have Day 118 by any chance? I'm not seeing it. I can just skip it if you didn't have one on that day.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 camera is great if you have enough light and you don't need to zoom in.

true but I rarely have adequate lighting. The anti shake doesn't work sometimes*

Yeah, you're indoors for a lot for your 'research'. The Olympus XZ-1 might be the camera for you in terms of having a fast/bright lens but still pocketable and easy to bring around. Image quality is DSLR-like when using the lower ISOs. I regret selling mine.

I find that it improves things a little but you'll still need to hold the thing fairly steady.
