I am pretty sure that most of us of a certain age and disposition have had the mullet look before. It was of a time and a place and if you weren't there, you missed it1.
1Some would say you would have been fortunate to miss it.

It was a toss up between the Richard Marx or the Curt Smith.

Just like those of us who were pre-teens in the late eighties / early nineties had or dreamt of having rat tails. Nothing to be proud of, but an irreversible fact

my mullet fell off of my head at age 13 when I discovered comics in 1989. I picked up an issue of What If and the damned thing flew off the back of my head. Luckily it was summer and I didn't have a bad case of frost neck. now you know. I looked damned good in it too.

Sorry guys, never had a mullet. The rest of the world is probably better off with me never having a mullet. I mostly had short hair and during the rare occasions it got long, it was never mullet proportions.

I had many, many worse haircuts growing up then a mullet. Bowl Cuts, The Newstead (think Metallica's Enter Sandman Video), A Pompadour. And much worse.
Thank heavens the evidence was destroyed before the internet was in full power.

I rocked the bowl cut when I was ten. Still a little embarrassed.

Just caught up on this episode today - good stuff.
Couple o' things - no way is Rob Liefeld as popular now (in the shrunken comics market) as he was back in the NM/X-Force/Youngblood days. Hawk and Dove just got axed. He's got a small, very devoted following - that's it.
Sin City - I don't have all of them, but I actually enjoy "Hell and Back" - it actually seems like part of the way through, Frank just went all "Early-Image" and decided to draw what he immediately felt like drawing and came up with a reason for it afterwards. It's raw, and rough - in a good way. I'm surprised Vince ain't a fan...
Mullets? I'd like to see the pic. I know Vince didn't look how I expected when I first started listening to the show (his voice always conjured up images of either Steve Zahn or Michael Moore)...

Agreed on Liefeld. Not sure ANY comic creator in modern comics is as popular as the top dogs in the 90s.

Hello 2012! Listening to an episode a day has left me feeling spoiled (only about five weeks or so behind the times now, woo-hoo! ) Definitely a more laid back show but anice easy start to the the 11 O 'Clock year. I was never a fan of Daken and his silly inner-wrist claw didn't help matters. It might be good for guarding your beer during a fight if you can't stop to put it down but otherwise I don't know... The Revenge of wolverine storyline does sound smart and maybe worth reading in trade despite the spoilers. I dont follow the character much anymore but a good Wolvie story is still a good wolvie story. Thanks for the heads up on Spaced! I went and added it to my Zip.ca movie list. It would be nice if the Dude could play nice with others when it comes to taking what is maybe offered by a comic company but he is who he is, and his personality defines him and whatever work he is willing to produce now, for better or for worse. If his heart is not in it then fans may end up discussing how they are dissapointed by it on podcasts such as this one and others. Okay, see you at eppy 195!
