Thanks for the comments guys.

Y'all need to see some Tin Tin.

Um is there One Piece (the best superhero comic in the WORLD) talk this episode.

also on what Dan was talking about-One Piece is mad cheap on the Viz app/site

One Piece is so daunting. And I have to finish 20th Century Boys (or at least catch up to current) before I attempt another manga epic.  As to Tin Tin, I really want to see it, and might this weekend with the seeds depending on how quickly we get the Xmas decorations put away.

Your boys will almost certainly love it, Wood!

About halfway into the episode, and I'm really enjoying it. Just for fun I went back and listened to the last two years' 11 O'Closcar episodes, and it's quite illuminating hearing how you guys have developed/changed your tastes from year to year. I'm loving the Fantagraphics and Top Shelf love so far  Hearts

Yeah those are two different beasts 20th and OP. You can get by on OP by reading a chapter or two. This is PURE shonen manga. Like reading superhero comics back in the day. But I also read them after each other. I just wouldn't say to try and go crazy with it. OP is HUGE and still going with no end in sight.

Got a little further into the episode. B.P.R.D. for the win! Wooo  Rock Horns So glad to see that my vote was also the vote of so many other forumites, that's awesome.

Regarding your discussion of the Someday Funnies, I was actually quite let down by that book. It is an amazing list of contributors to be sure, and flipping through the many gorgeous and oversized strips is an enjoyable experience, but I have so far been disappointed by the stories that I've read. It has the potential to be awesome, but for me it only really works as an art book. That said, I'm happy to hear that Vince is loving it!

Kinda surprised that Frazer Irving didn't even get the slightest mention for his mind-numbingly great work on Xombi. Xombi is a hell of a book that was murdered by DC way too soon.  Undecided

It's hard to remember them all, and Xombi was early in the year.

Glad to hear DAP and I both shared the same love for Dark Horse this year. Best publisher on the stands by a country mile.

You're right, it was early in the year. This is something I bet affects everyone whom cast a ballot. I think I'm going to keep a running list of my favorites starting now and change them as the year progresses.

THIS  Yes

We're guilty of the same thing the Academy is...early year books have a chance of falling out of our periphery.  To be honest, as much as I liked Xombi, it didn't stay as strong as it started IMHO, and it wasn't on my short list. But Irving is a master.

Hmmm, looks like I missed getting the rest of my nominations in, damn.  First time that happened.

Look forward to hearing the episode tomorrow on my way to work.
