Chuck Ragan - Covering Ground

There seems to be a plethora of musicians who I grew up listening to in bands, taking it solo on the road and doing acoustic/folk/country sets.  Some of these have been insanely awesome and seemed like a natural transition, while others just sounded like they were jumping on a bandwagon.  On his third solo album, Chuck Ragan proves why he is at the forefront of this genre by delivering a an album that is as much a love letter to the road and touring as it is a heartfelt apology to the loved ones that he leaves at home.   I read a review once, that said this album was the sonic equivalent of Kerouac's On The Road and I think that is a perfect comparison.

Lawrene, here's one off Chuck's new album with Brian Fallon performing with him.  From the Revival Tour 2011

Wow, I really dug that. I have heard Chuck Ragan before but I had certainly never heard that track with Fallon on it. He reminds me a lot of Frank Turner who's album England Keep My Bones is one of my top 5 records for the year as well.

I liked it, quite a bit actually, but like I said it's a grower.

I've tried to let it grow... and it just hasn't for me.

That being said the rest of your list reminded me of a few gems I still need to check out, I didn't even know Earth dropped a new full length. Thanks!
