More O'Closcars awards goodness.

These episodes are a treasure trove of stuff I should have boughten (to borrow a term from David) but missed that I need to add to my reading list. Perfect for those times when you're wondering what you should try next.

I think people need to see the road leading to the destination. I'll never stop listing my runners up.

If you didn't you would get a lot of flak saying "why didn't you even mention "_____" it's the best book in the multiverse and you snubbed it. At least mention it" etc etc

I like it

Looking forward to next week, back to the regular format.

Damn, it's going to be a rough night if my boo don't like QT.

He's pretty much the filmmaker of my generation. Love him to death.

I'm sensing déjà vu...

I enjoy Reservoir Dogs a whole bunch.  It's my favorite thing he's done.  And except for one spot, I think Pulp Fiction is the bee's knees.  Jackie Brown had more good moments than bad.  But Death Proof is fucking painful.  Not only to watch, but to also listen to.  There are some scenes in Kill Bill I like a lot.  But it also feels like it just never ends.  Inglorious Basterds was something I could have missed.

My problem with Tarantino is that he's never met a line of dialogue he didn't love.  The man doesn't know how to edit himself.  Not everything every member of your cast is going to utter is gold.

Some could probably say the same about Kevin Smith.  I think the way you see Tarantino is the way I see Smith.  I could watch the Jersey Trilogy + 2 all day long.

To sum up, I think QT is a fine director.

I don't agree, but I can respect that and can see how you would feel that way. I'm the opposite, and feel the way you do about QT that I do about Smith. I have a hard time going back to anything beyond Chasing Amy, and even that one is still a bit rough.

But Clerks is as good today as it was when I first watched it at 13. Thank goodness for VHS stores that let kids rent anything.

I was working at a C-store ("convenience store" for all you civilians) when Clerks came out. All the staff went to see it at a little theater downtown, and I remember it coming out on video and getting passed around like it was the greatest thing ever.

if only manga had the .1 system. Thinking  then i would be able to jump onto one piece at volume 64.1

but that would fly in the face of the actual practice of the .1

yay award winning anthology!!

thanx everyone (except the hosts who wouldn't shamelessly vote for it  Tongue)

as far as runners up, I hear what your saying, its a valid suggestion
but personally I like it, it leads to more discussion

but I would listen to a show where you guys listed every comic you read this year
I just want your voices in my head on the ride to work

I'm still mad at the time I lost with Inglorious Bastards. SALTY. LAWRY'S!!!!
Yeah I respect your opinion. I love me some Jackie Brown (to me it's his best work to date). I love Kill Bill, it was like he reached into my head and made a movie from everything I liked.

I'm still blown you guys like Red State so much from Smith.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
I'm glad we don't all like the same things. Makes the world a more interesting place.
Now if you'll excuse me, I think Power Rangers is on...

Funny that you love Jackie Brown the most. I love it, but to me it's the last "Quentin" movie of the bunch, because it was of course adapted from a fantastic book by Elmore Leonard.

I don't think Red State was a great film, by any stretch. But I found it really entertaining, in the same vein that I found the first Saw or Paranormal Activity entertaining.  Had they done at the end what I thought they were going to do
[actually make the Rapture happen proving that the cultists were the sane ones]
, I would've evangelized the ever loving hell out of the film.

I'm pretty sure the "more good moments than bad" I get out of Jackie Brown were because Tarantino didn't stray too far from the source material.

Yep, he really didn't. I remember reading Rum Punch on a beach in the Bahamas. It was such a fun read, Leonard is such a beast when it comes to dialog.

You, me, SIMPATICO!

Freaky Deaky was probably the first work of his I read.  And I dug the shit out of Get Shorty.

I need to dive into his catalog.  There is so much of his I haven't read yet.

 Yes Yes you do.

While I love Jackie Brown, my favorite Tarantino movie is still Reservoir Dogs. The raw nerve of that film is still unmatched in his other work. I thought the Kill Bill movies were fun, but ultimately too artistically masturbatory to reach the same height as his earlier stuff.

Yeah Yeah!

You gotta read LaBrava...that story is TIGHT! Twists and turns, but never does he play fast and loose with your logic circuits.

Also, of course, you gotta read Pronto -- the birthplace of our very own Justified's Raylan Givens  Yes

Haha!! I love that you finish your post with this :

TABERNACLE!

Us french-canadians use deformed church words as curse words! for example Tabernacle becomes Tabarnak!  Evil

So when I read your post, the ending has a lot of character!
