Let's see...
DKR2 definitely made me like DKR less, BUT, the Star Wars prequels have had no impact on my love for the original trilogy
I was thunderstruck when the Eagles lost to the Bucs in the NFC Championship game, but I was totally calm and appreciated their accomplishments the year they lost to the Rams in the same game

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan gave new bits of info to the first season that completely wrecked a few characters. One in particular. If you accept The Plan (which I don't), it lessens the first season.
Not exactly the argument we're having in this thread, but I needed to bring that up.

Watched it once and never revisited, even during my BSG rewatches - could you refresh my memory on who was wrecked? I'm assuming you think it's ?

I get more enjoyment out of Blueprint 2 than I estimate I will ever get out of the Watchmen prequels. Because even average Jay-Z wrecks the competition for me.
I truly hope that everyone enjoys the prequels. Like Wood said, if people I trust say its great, then I'll give it a shot. But its got no goodwill with me right now and its not exciting me as much as others, so its got a mountain to climb with me. Not saying it can't hit the summit, but its got a tough road to hoe.
That's truth right there. There is some real bangers on there. I look at your copies if you buy any of the watchmen stuff. I can't front that there was some bubble wrap around the real gems on the double joint, but to me it's HOV's collabo stuff that falls flat. The fact that Hova and Kanyeezy's joint this past year wasn't THE JUMP OFF OF ALL JUMP OFFS makes it a critical failure, to me. Super lofty expectations were not met. And the less said about that Jay/R.Kelly collabomination that better.
Watch the Throne was totally worth it just for N*ggas in Paris alone. QUOTABLES FOR YEARS! #cray #ballsohardmuhfuckaswannafindme #fishfilet Also the open use of dubstep in mainstream rap production is a nice addition the genre.

The series maybe, that scene with the space jockey, maybe. The thing is the sequels from other film makers have already helped and hurt the brand of Alien. Since these things are not in a vacuum they do effect the works and if they are even experienced. If I had started with Alien 3 I'd never would have seen Alien cause I would've thought it was a terrible concept and franchise.
You're talking about 2 very different things Julian. All of the works together create the brand. You're correct in how a sequel/prequel change the brand. But a sequel/prequel doesn't change the original work. It changes YOUR perception of that work. DKR exists in a vacuum. DKSB may affect your perception of the work, but not the actual work.

They closed with that in San Jose a few months ago, they closed with it NINE TIMES IN A ROW. Still wasn't enough.

DKR2 definitely made me like DKR less, BUT, the Star Wars prequels have had no impact on my love for the original trilogy I can agree with this. My copy of Complete Frank Miller Batman ends at the end of The Dark Knight Returns. I do not have to read my issues of The Dark Knight Strikes Again, so I can pretend that the story ends with Bruce and the kids in the cave with the world thinking he's dead. I can treat that story as a one-off. But knowing that Miller did continue the tale and knowing what he did by continuing the tale does tarnish the first story in my eyes. I can watch Episodes IV, V, and VI and be transported back to when I first saw them Until I get to the end of Jedi and there's ghost Hayden in place of the original old mAnakin. I can do my damnedest to just see Vader as he is in those movies. The problem is when I see any of the first three Episodes. Yeah, Liam and Ewan are cool and all and - hey! - it's Darth Maul, but Jar Jar fucks shit up and whiny Anakin makes me reach for the remote. Chances are nil that I'll ever watch all six parts in sequential order.

Well here is one prequel I don't think will hurt my love of the original http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2012/02/02/john-hawkes-yasiin-bey-to-star-in-jackie-brown-prequel/1970s Jackie Brown prequel Mos Def as Ordell Robi?!?! Kenny Powers little brother as Louis?!?!? Sign me up! QT or no QT. Considering these are all Elmore Lenord's creations, and there is technically already a Jackie Brown expanded universe on screen (Out Of Sight), this is great movie nerd news. Alright, back on topic. I don't usually let a different work ruin the works that came before it. Indy IV doesn't taint the previous ones in my eyes, nor does the lackluster Terminator films. It's easy for me to do with movies though, I can relate more to the sports metaphor Chris brought up and how frustrating it can be to see someone that was an integral part of your team in the past and not think of where they are now. You have to keep it in a vacuum or it leads to madness... like getting over ex girlfriends.

Vince, the issue is not the headset. It's an issue with Skype and specifically the Mac version of Skype. There is some sort of memory leak. I'm not sure what the exact combination of Skype version or mac hardware/software. I've heard this on several tech podcasts over the last year or so. They all say the same thing, after the one hour mark it rears it's head. It's supposedly solved by unplugging and plugging back in the headset.
I don't know if you'd have more luck using a headset that has rca plugs instead of usb?

Being able to compartmentalize things in entertainment is REALLY hard. It takes a mindset you have to work on.
I find it really hard in sports.
My wife just got me the 2011 World Series DVD collection. I started watching Game 6 a couple nights ago, and when I saw Pujols come to the plate I started getting angry because of how he left in free agency after the season. I had to stop myself and "compartmentalize" the fact that I was watching a game that would lead them to a championship and one of my best moments as a fan. No matter what happened in the weeks following, it shouldn't impact how I felt watching that game again. Not easy.
I try to do the same with movies & comics. Not always successfully, but at least trying has made my enjoyment level rise.
Chris if you interested in learning about why he chose the Angels over the Cardinals, ESPN the magazine did a great article this week about the differences in the offers made and why he made his decision.

I've even spun back my Skype a few versions from the latest. Seems like every version does it on my machine. The headset I was using previously has a USB adapter with 3.5mm ports for the phones and mic. When this whole fiasco started, I tried using a straight USB headset (no mic) in the keyboard USB port and stuck the mic plug from my regular headset into the 3.5mm RCA port. Results were exactly the same after an hour of talk. Crackle crackle. Unless anyone knows of a viable Mac Skype alternative that also has a PC flavor, I'm done trying to solve this problem. Honestly, I just don't care anymore. I've sunk way too much time into this ridiculous problem.

Chris if you interested in learning about why he chose the Angels over the Cardinals, ESPN the magazine did a great article this week about the differences in the offers made and why he made his decision.
There were 34 million reasons he made the decision. I know the 10 year service contract factored in, but what it comes down to is that the Angels just signed a 3 BILLION dollar TV rights deal and they have an opportunity to be more than the 3rd most popular team in LA now. That the Angels owner went crazy when Mark Teixeira signed with the Yankees and talked about how out of whack salaries are, and then signed off on that deal just baffles me. I'm over it, and look forward to the Cardinals not paying a 40 year old 30 Million a year to hit .230 with limited power.

I only watched it once, too, so I'm a little fuzzy, but the problem I had was... Oh yeah. That is probably one of the few reasons why I didn't need to go back to it. With the exception of the awesome last shot with the Cavill's in space, there wasn't much to it that added anything to an already great, if at times spotty, story.

I respectfully disagree with HeroesMask. I used to experience the same thing Vince goes through with the Cyloning, at the time I was using a Plantronics USB headset. I switched to a different style headset with usb line in, and I still continued to have the problem. It wasn't until I switched to a much better usb microphone (Blue Yeti) that the problem stopped. They have talked numerous times on the Twit network about the problem, and every time they talk about usb headsets being the source. Last Tuesday I talked with 14 people on Skype on the mac for 4 hours and 53 minutes and my mic never once distorted (Skypendraw). I'm pretty sure Chris is on the mac as well, and I can't remember him experiencing the cylone effect when he's hosted in Vince's absence. The only mac related issue I could think of would be if you have your mic plugged into an unpowered hub or a low power usb port like the keyboard or monitor. I'm sure it's your headset
