I'm saving this podcast for my first ever 'hypothermic' half-marathon this weekend.
I am hoping your soothing voices will keep my mind off of two hours (plus) of breaking my legs and freezing my ass off. Thanks for the support!
(sorry, this was meant for ep. 201)

I'm just about through the episode. Will finish up today. That was a Steve Raker and the his Fabulous guests show. Fun segment with the Super Villain Team-up. What a bizarre publishing schedule at the end of it's run. I like how Alan relates things to today and how we view the past in comics. And in that vein think this series a good example of how some comics couldn't keep or have long runs of the same creative team even back then. Some times I read about people talking about how "everything" had long runs back in day but that's really not the case. I remember the "Date with Doom" issue being brought up on another website that showcases funny/odd things from 70's Marvel Comics. Totally had to read up that like Luke Cage wanting his money from Doom. Everything is made better with Doom isn't it? Some of these issues are being released in the Avengers: The Private War of Dr. Doom Premiere Hardcover soon as well -Previews segment plug? "Fantastic" Fantastic Foresights. Makes me wonder if the Guardians of the Galaxy or Nova would have tied into the Hickman stories or went off on their own adventures. I liked the first half of Mcduffie's run more than the second half. The insides were better than the covers. That doesn't happen all the time. There was a moment in the here where it felt like Chris was stabbing me in the back over and over as he said what he didn't like or his opinions on things. The moment passed I didn't thing Paste Pot Pete was in that story maybe he used Dr.Doom's time machine to go from the 60's to the modern era I thought there was a siren that was going to do off when Steve mentioned Wednesday Comics. I only get like this with Marvel Noise.

I would've loved to find out! I miss those titles. I liked the first half of Mcduffie's run more than the second half. The insides were better than the covers. That doesn't happen all the time. There was a quick succession of Gravity, the Avengers Initiative, and Silver Surfer at one point or at least that's how I remember hearing it. I'm forgetting who wasn't as into Paul Pope now.

I love Paul Pope. I love Avengers: The Initiative (especially Hardball). I love Silver Surfer, but only in a supporting role like Plant Hulk, Fantastic Four, etc. I hate Gravity and his punk-ass lines in that run. I don't care what Epoch said, you sound like a punk.

I love Paul Pope. 2 out of 3 sane contributors on the segment isn't bad. I love Avengers: The Initiative (especially Hardball). I love Silver Surfer, but only in a supporting role like Plant Hulk, Fantastic Four, etc. I hate Gravity and his punk-ass lines in that run. I don't care what Epoch said, you sound like a punk. Sounded like you were putting down the rest of the Initiative when compared to Hardball. I think the Surfer's proved that he can do well outside of a supporting role and can have a long run but not forever with a title. I don't remember anything specifically bothering me but I've always liked Gravity.

No, yeah, that was me. I could see that style in an indie comic, lending that kind of feel to it -- like Lemore does to Sweet Tooth, etc. but when it's Johnny & DJ Wyatt, I need less edgy and more comicbooky. It's a genre-expectation for me.

It is. I remember selecting panels from the Mcduffie run when I took over briefly there at the end. I remember that Eternity page and the time travel diagrams. No, yeah, that was me. I could see that style in an indie comic, lending that kind of feel to it -- like Lemore does to Sweet Tooth, etc. but when it's Johnny & DJ Wyatt, I need less edgy and more comicbooky. Maybe that scene wasn't comicbooky enough for the Fantastic Four?! Wednesday comics was all comicbooky and it was beyond awesome.

It is a definite style, and not comicbooky in the traditional sense. That being said, when Johnny and DJ Wyatt hang, its all good. It can be stick figures. I need DJ Wyatt Wingfoog to come back and play an active role in Winter Soldier. He is Jasper Sitwell's partner in crime. They snuff out AIM fools like its their birthday. Black bag and tag, with a strap to match.

I'm using that Johnny/Wyatt backup story in the 45th anniversary issue during the McDuffie run as my only reference. Post some links to his other stuff and let's see if I can cotton to it better.

Those titles tied in to the Hickman story by getting out of the way I know Chris loved the Turner covers, so there's a few more chops at you

I know Chris loved the Turner covers, so there's a few more chops at you It's strange what will and won't phase someone listening to a podcast.
