We throw a whole mess of stuff at the fan in this old-school EOC episode, including Invincible Iron Man by Matt Fraction and Salvador Larocca, Scott Snyder, Scott Tuft, and Attila Futaki's Severed #6 and 7 from Image, Critical Millennium: The Dark Frontier by Andrew E. C. Gaska, Dan Dussault, and Archaia (incorporating Jim Henson's Tale of Sand, The Dapper Men, and more), Gates of Gotham by Snyder, Kyle Higgins, and Trevor McCarthy, Avengers Vs. X-Men, superstar writers (including Alan Moore, Jason Aaron, Gail Simone, Bendis, Roy Thomas, Ed Brubaker, Morrison, The New 52, and more), Fantastic Four, Alan Davis and Captain America, Brian Wood's DMZ, and a whole mess more!

As a huge IM fan, I cannot wait to see what's said about Fraction and Larocca's IM run.  I actually really dig it, despite the DVR screen caps

Sums up my opinion of it as well. Tommy Lee Osborne and Lost guy be damned! It's still a great read.

Nooooooooooo! Where's Chris? Sad

The talk on how you guys are getting to C2E2 was funny as heck! "Let's take the week of and go there by segway. We'll zigzag between each other between the highway." Roll On Floor Laughing You guys better be recording during the trip Yes

WTF happened at the 10:16 mark? I'm super relaxed and it scared the shit out of me!

Really good Sal Larocca/Iron Man talk! Regarding Larocca's time on the book: you don't often see that in the big two nowadays. I agree with you guys about his art style though, I wish he'd go back to his old style and refine that. I don't hate his current art style but it breaks my heart that he's not doing his old style. I've gone through several comic purges but I can't part with his FF issues with Claremont because I love that stuff to bits. You could almost see him get better every issue. X-Treme X-Men was also pretty as heck although that's when I was away from comics so I didn't get those. Damn I miss old Larocca to bits.

"He's keeping our boy Sawyer in the public eye." Can't disagree with that. I got a bit of a man crush when I saw him in Ghost Protocol. When is he gonna team up with his buddy Miles and do that LaFleur cop show? That's what I wanna know.

I can deal with the Iron Man art but I wasn't digging the story on a monthly basis although I'm not saying that it was bad. I stopped during the car building story because I wasn't getting enough per issue. Maybe it got better, I don't know. I loved the Mandarin Annual to bits though. Fraction is very competent and I'm sure he's building something special but I just felt like it was something that I can return to later on. Sometimes when someone is writing what they feel to be an epic story, they forget to make each issue stand on its own. Sometimes I'll stick around, sometimes I won't. I'm sure glad I wasn't around for that Fear Itself copout though.

And the whole reporting on an event instead of showing an event bothers the heck out of me. At most, maybe show a quick panel of a news report or something, don't make that be the entire thing.

Daaaaamn, still 1hr 30mins left on the episode Rock Horns

Welllllll, let's just say we will agree to disagree.

I much prefer old Larocca, but I like the book a lot of the time, and his old style wouldn't have fit, so don't know where that leaves me. I suppose in an ideal world another artist would be on the book but this work of his is definitely suited to Fraction's story more than most.

Jason - In regards to Fraction bringing in the alcoholism stories into Iron Man, I wonder if it's because Fraction himself was at one time a slave to addiction and I think that was part of the reason he likes writing the character. Maybe?

This is a super meaty episode. Shit, I apologise that I have so much more than usual to write Tongue

David: "Chris is ready."
Jason: "Who?"

Oh snap! No

I'm so with Chris on enjoying the people who read comics more than comics themselves. I've barely read anything this past year and a bit but I feel like I'm still in it because of all you guys.

I'm lucky I love both artists on T-bolts. Even though Declan and Kev have different styles, I don't really mind. I'd much rather they switch up than Larocca on all the issues. Ah dammit, here I go missing old Larocca again. I might have to reread those old FF issues.

Regarding Spidey and Wolvie on Avengers: it doesn't feel wrong to me in the sense that they don't deserve to be members. These guys have either saved the world or helped save the world numerous times. They may not be considered big guns but you're telling me that Spidey and Wolvie are worse than every other person that they've given a membership card to? Nah son! I'm sure they've accepted people who've done much less and can't fight as well than Spidey and Wolvie.

If it's the whole thing about no killing then fine, I get that. Avengers shouldn't need to kill. But hey, the great Captain America himself recruited Wolverine. Dude had his back during the war, gotta mean something. Cap had use for Bucky's killamajig skills during the war, didn't he? Sure, you can make a case that it ain't wartime. But I'm sure there are times when it feels like they're fighting a war. Maybe Wolverine shouldn't be an Avenger. But hey, Cap formed that secret team didn't he? Put him in that then. At least have Logan's number on speed dial in case of an emergency.

Cap: "This guy Kang is starting to piss me off and my guys are hopeless against him. Can you help me out buddy? Make with the snikety snikt, could ya? K thx bai."

I agree about the rotating cast thing. My issue is with the constant lunches/dinners/lazy Sundays/etc. A lot of these guys have dual lives but they have time to sit around and get together for meals every day? I don't fight crime and you know I love the shit out of you guys but I couldn't make it to dinner with you every night even if we all lived in NY.

Spidey on FF makes sense if they want someone on the team that they're familiar with. It is a family after all, right? It was a decision made after the death of someone close to them so they wanted to bring in someone they're comfortable with. I get the decision of the characters. That said, I'm not digging it on a story standpoint. I don't even know if Spidey contributes all that much to the team. Now that they know Johnny isn't dead, even if he doesn't return to the team, could they not replace Spidey with a more capable member? At least relegate him to the FF book (as opposed o the F4 book) and have him babysit the kids. I can dig that.

FF and F4 are super fun reads and I get that it ain't your thing right now. Vince swears he'll never read it (I still love ya boo, even though you're crazy) but I hope the rest of you try it out at some point, maybe when Hickman's run is complete. To hell with whether it's the best or it isn't or it's up there or whatever. It's just a really fun ride.
