Jason - In regards to Fraction bringing in the alcoholism stories into Iron Man, I wonder if it's because Fraction himself was at one time a slave to addiction and I think that was part of the reason he likes writing the character. Maybe?
Interesting. I had no idea Fraction was a recovering addict.

The backmatter of one of the more recent Casanova issues had Fraction discussing his battles with drug addiction. I can't remember what the drugs were specifically, and/or if alcohol was/is also a problem. It's a pretty interesting and revealing read (as all Casanova backmatter is).

I think I've heard him talk on Word Balloon about both drugs and alcohol

The whole mindset that "things will never be as good as before" is something that I sometimes think to myself, but I hate myself for thinking it. I feel old like a motherfucker on most days but I let go of all that shit when I read comics. As long as people are still writing comics, there's hope that it can be better. It may never be but thinking that way makes comics less fun, at least for me.
Shit, what if you find out that Jack Kirby has been alive all this time, hiding in a cave, and studying everyone for decades? Then he comes out and writes new stuff. I bet it'd be better then.

I'm glad whenever my buddies are enjoying something they read.
Love the early episode! For the first 6 issues of the run, I was enjoying the book despite the screen capture work. For the next 6 issues of the run, I was enjoying the writing and screen capture equally (which isn't good) For the issues after that, I actually enjoyed the story less than the screen capture...and I was OUT. I am not reading any Fraction work at the moment, and I will not be reading any more of his material in the near term.

Damn, not even a wink with that sarcasm. Going super-stealth on us now, just like Fraction's ability to write a coherent superhero story that I enjoy...

I believe he discussed it on a word balloon, I could be wrong. But I'm for certain it was in some of the backmatter for the reprints of Casanova, in an interview with a member of ... The Afgan Whigs? Who I actually think might have been his sponsor. It's a bit foggy now. On one hand, I applaud him for being up front and honest about his personal struggles, I think that takes balls and I never get the impression he is doing it in a manner that is along the lines of "OH LOOK AT ME AND ALL MY TROUBLES." Plus I have enjoyed a decent amount of the comics that he has used past issues in his personal life to influence. On the other hand, having it addressed in the much discussed .1 issue and re addressed as a plot point in Fear Itself was enough for me... having us continues down the Tony's troubles with the bottle again, for over a year now, kind of makes me want to scream "WE GET IT, ALRIGHT?! YOU CAN RELATE!"

I haven't heard the episode-I didn't even refresh my itunes this morning for that cause it's Wednesday :/ but about Fraction Iron Man I really like that Dark Reign arc and the thing with Tony in his head with the dope ass covers (I wish it would've stayed that way cover wise-so much smarter) but that first issue with the new armor left me cold that greenland. That joint left me gangreen-black thumbs. so I left. All that stuff in Fear Itself with Tony I thought was lame too. I kinda miss the work that got me into Fraction a couple years ago with Casanova.
so he still does the diary stuff in new Casanova?

Larocca's current stuff isn't that bad, but sometimes the coloring just leaves me feeling all wonky. I noticed it back when he was on Extreme X-Men too, but at the time just chalked it up to a new book format... Liked his FF run, but his Flash work is still a high point for me.

I, without a drop of irony, LOVE "In the Air Tonight." Loved it since I was a kid. Such an awesome song.

I had to drop Invincible Iron Man because it was one of the Marvel books that I first got into but as I read more it just became so much more bland and boring by comparison.
Its not even the fact that he is tracing people that bugs me, it is the fact that every dialogue scene is shoulder high back and forth exchanges that saps all of the momentum right out of the book. It looks like the same blocking that Lucas would have been using in the Star Wars prequels that was pretty expertly looked at in the RLM reviews. I think the last issue I looked at was #500 and that was only for the Nathan Fox stuff. Fraction has killed everything he has done except Casanova for me.
