Well, in the sentence I wrote, the "crap" was only referring my personal tastes, as referenced by Mr. Woodrow's own personal taste in cartoons. Difference is, while Jason may let out an "ooof" and runs away as if a fat chick with cold sores and crotch rot is after him when SpongeBob or Adventure Time is mentioned, he doesn't make his friends feel like idiots for enjoying those cartoons. I just see it happening more and more lately. And it baffles me how we all support each other here when it comes to comicbooks, but as soon as music or movies or television shows enter the discussion, that's when we're quick to tear something down and give everyone a view of our worst side. Or maybe that's just me. Whatever.

Okay so the list of things that, when mentioned on the show, will almost certainly eclipse comic talk include: Star Wars Phil Collins Feet What else am I missing? Or you can come to Marvel Noise once a month and listen to me, Steve Raker & Chris Campbell dissect those titles.
Your segment should be required listening for any FF fan (whether current fan or old fan). You guys do great work

Apologies and hugs if I've made anyone feel this way. I've felt this way at times, it ain't fun. but as soon as music or movies or television shows enter the discussion, that's when we're quick to tear something down and give everyone a view of our worst side.

400? I thought 80 was a lot and I've got it down to around 25. I'm not reading everything Fraction puts out anymore but I usually always enjoy reading Iron Man . It always finds it's way to the near the top of my stack. I didn't want to read the rest of Fear Itself so it didn't bother me that I didn't get to see some of the stuff in the Iron Man title proper. I found out in recaps and podcasts but I could see how that would bother someone. I feel like the title's really ramping up right now dealing with some of the stuff that happened during the Fear Itself tie-ins. Classic Iron Man villains are getting the best of him and he's having public relations troubles. Some big happenings. It wouldn't surprise me if his run wrapped up soon. It does seem like Tony dealing with alcoholism is one of the modern tropes that everyone returns to in some form. Even Busiek and Quesada used it. Larroca's alright and is good with the tech. I think he did more than one issue a month during the Most Wanted story line which is even more amazing. I remember when he was on Fantastic four fans complaining about his work and now that his style has changed it's the same so I don't see that much of a difference in the reception. X-Treme X-Men was probably the first time I remember hearing/seeing so much about the change in the inking process. I prefer his Fantastic Four stuff. When an artist changes styles it never seems to really be much of a difference in their speed to get things out quicker or they use that extra time for other things. It's a weird realm with all this computer assisted stuff nowadays since you knew they were good artists that could draw by hand. Figure that a good title should still be a good title even if it tie's into an event. Should have it's own subplots and storylines continuing. With more fans buying the book maybe they will like what they see and stick around too getting a real feel of the book. Trying to navigate through websites or message boards with a "everything was better in the past" mentality is like going through a mine field to get to the information you want. I'm still reading things today that are as good as things were when I started. It would be a bit sad for me if that wasn't the case. Even if that was the case nothing wrong with more good stories. I feel that DnA raised the bar high when they did their cosmic stuff that some of their other work now just fails to reach the high standard that I have for them. Still enjoyable but I want more. The Avengers discussion is something I've thought about many times before. Kind of disturbing to think that Bendis has been on the Avengers so long that some people might think that's how the Avengers are. When you look at their history in past years that doesn't really capture who they are entirely.

Wood brought the HEAT on his breakdown of Iron Man. I'm reading it and agree with pretty much all he said but for some reason it does not bother me nearly as much. The book is is really of two minds; I think that when Larroca draws tech and mechs, it's pretty awesome, but his people always look weird and frozen. Their eyes in particular look buggy as shit. The misfires on this book are small enough that I still enjoy it quite a bit. It seems to be a pretty unique superhero book, at least of the ones I read. I've never read another Iron Man book, so the alcholism thing does not bother me as much. I even think how/why he started drinking in Fear Itself was pretty cool. But if it's really been used as often as it seems, I can see how it would get trite quickly.

Even so, IRL, reformed alcoholics fall off the wagon all the time, then try to get cleaned back up again in a sometimes ongoing cycle. Where we might view it as a tired plot line, Fraction might just be trying to inject some "real life" into a superhero book. Its probably why I don't watch much indie cinema; if I want to see stories about ordinary people trying to overcome the challenges that life presents them with, I just open the front door and look outside.

No one said anything about a merkin.
Speaking on merkins... http://www.siemawines.com/product-portfolio/united-states/california/merkin-vineyards/Maynard came to do a bottle signing at my work. They told me when I went to shake his hand that he was a germaphobe, and that he knows karate, so don't fuck with him or be weird in anyway. I didn't fuck with him, but he was shorter than I was so it was hard not to, "do you want me to take off my shoe...so you can play with it? I bet you do?"

I understand where they is coming from, but the Avengers are a concept, and that concept should change with the times. I've always thought that the whole "thou shall not kill" rule to be absurd and silly, and simply not true. Cap uses guns, they kill people from time to time. I think that Vince is way underestimating Wolverine. Marvel has really stepped up his cred with his fellow heroes; Jason Aaron writes a couple of issues that show how much respect he gets and the first couple of issues show how much of a rock he is for the X-Men (though to be fair, the last couple of issues have him and Scott acting like a pair of morons.) This is more a personal note, but I find the fact that he is willing to live with killing, so that others don't have bear that weight, to be much more heroic then an absolute no kill rule. Even without Chris, this was a fantastic episode guys. Thanks.

Phil Collins? no.... no...... heck NO! I think that was the biggest shock of the episode, Jason Wood's love for Phil Collins. I am surprised that didn't break twitter. I am only 1/3 the way listening to the episode, but I wanted to comment on Jason's critique of Iron Man. I personally don't find the art to be that great, in fact, I find it very stiff. But as you guys mentioned, I guess people like Salvador Larocca or Marvel wouldn't keep giving him such high profile gig. However, the biggest problem I had with Iron Man lately is the writing. I really did dig Iron Man until he lost his mind and had to "reboot". But lately I have been having the same issues that Jason brought up on the show. The other problem I have is that Fraction seems to be telling us the extended version of every story. In other words, the stories he is telling could be shorter and tighter. Just looking at May's solicits, the current storyline that started after Fear Itself is still going on. And like Jason said, there is not a lot of action but a lot of talking going on in these stories. I really did like Fraction on X-Men and his early Thor stuff, but lately I am not feeling it from his Marvel stories. I am going to take a break from Iron Man and Thor for now (I dropped both titles) and see if I will miss them.
