gates of gotham kinda of got crippled by the relaunch. between issue one and two the relaunch details started to leak and by the time issue two came out dc was shifting creators around.

for all the titles and issues of avengers by bendis, you could just read breakout and avengers prime and get the gist.

I just finished Critical Millennium last weekend and it really is as fantastic Vince says it is.  I was pretty surprised how good it was because I had never heard of it before.  I only picked it up back in January because Archaia had such a strong year last year I went and perused their back catalogue and saw the preview pages.  They're so gorgeous that I immediately added the book to my DCBS order.  Archaia looks to have a bunch more interesting titles lined up for this year.  I'm really looking forward to Siegfried and Sharaz-de (the art on this one looks amazing).

Gotta agree with Vince, Gabriel > Collins.  Not so much that he's the better singer, but the earlier songs were better written, IMO, and Gabriel was definitely the more interesting to watch.

The image of three of you weaving down the freeway was priceless.  Roll On Floor Laughing

I can't get down with the blanket statement hipster hating, it's reached a point where I just assume people are hating on anyone under the age of 35 that isn't acting how they think they should.

That period when Black Knight was the leader and everyone wore jackets was Da BOMB. But I am possibly the only person in the world who thinks that.

(And I got no problem with Spidey or Wolverine being on the Avengers per se, as long as they bring something to the table and are used in interesting ways. I think Bendis has kinda failed in that respect though)
Karma for the Black Knight Jacket Avengers.

Personally I have no issue with using Spidey or Wolverine for story reasons, I just dislike the idea that they continue to be there for sales reasons.

Agree with Chris about wanting more different voices.

Just finished reading issue #1 of Critical Millenium via Comixology.  VERY good.  I'll definitely be pulling the trigger on vol. 1 for $4.99. Karma to Vince for talking it up!  Thumbs Up

Thanks for the tip on Critical Millenium, Vince -- it sounds awesome.  I will definitely pick it up at C2E2 along with Tale of Sand.  Archaia always has great deals on their hardcovers at cons (C2E2, anyway) -- buy 2, get 1, buy 3 get 2, or buy 4, get 3, if I'm remembering right.  They have so many good books.  I bet you'd really enjoy Okko (it's about a ronin and his allies in a fantasy world based on pre-Shogunate Japan; there are three hardcovers so far) and the Killer (it's about a hitman; there are three hardcovers of this too), and you might enjoy Secret History too (Illuminati conspiracy stuff mixed with mythological mysticism) and the Dapper Men (a charming adventure story with absolutely fascinating art).  Definitely check out their booth.

Edit: Whoops -- kept listening and I see Wood and DAP provided some conversation on the sale as well as the art on Return of the Dapper Men.  That will teach me to post while I'm still listening to the episode.

* The status of the FF. It's kind of sad, the debate that is, when no one is reading this title as it's as good as it been since Waid/Wieringo, and as I understand it: it's number 4 of the all time high of the FF...

I can understand people not wanting to read something, that’s fine, read what you want, but the amount of abuse the Fantastic Four/FF gets from people who don’t read it baffles me.

What is the abuse based on?  It can’t be the story or the characterisation (which are both top notch by the way).  The art?  Maybe, but is it that bad?  Inconsistent maybe but never bad (in my opinion).  What else could it be?  I’m interested (as usual) to hear what Jason thinks.

On the double shipping, I dropped a lot of Marvel books, like Thunderbolts, Avengers Academy, Black Panther, Venom, and many more because of of it. It wasn't that I didn't like those titles, but I didn't like those titles that much. I also agree with David that I don't like it when different artists draw different parts of the one story arc.

I’m with you here.  I’ve recently dropped Thunderbolts, Hulk, Journey Into Mystery, X-Men Legacy, Secret Avengers, Avengers Academy, Captain America and Bucky and Mighty Thor.  All books I liked but not enough to buy twice a month.

I also didn’t order New Mutants (new creative team), Age of Apocalypse, Scarlet Spider, Venom, Avenging Spider-man or Avengers Assemble, in case they did the same.

So that’s 14 books in total that I probably would have ordered if they came out just once a month.  It’s crazy.  And I can see more being dropped soon...

Actually, I'm a relative newcomer to Avengers.  I started with Bendis.  Seriously, who is in charge of making people an Avenger?

It ain't the Fantastic Four way.
It ain't like the Nick Fury and SHIELD way.

...

Cap points to dudes and nods?

Is that it?

Does everyone have to agree?
