Actually, I'm a relative newcomer to Avengers. I started with Bendis. Seriously, who is in charge of making people an Avenger?
It ain't the Fantastic Four way. It ain't like the Nick Fury and SHIELD way.
...
Cap points to dudes and nods?
Is that it?
Does everyone have to agree?
At one time it was this douche. You need to check out the Byrne/Perez runs from the 141 to 201 (with some gaps in between). This is when I fell in love with the book. Bean

Umm yeah I heard some hating. Wolvie's runt, a runt that ran with Cap back in the day like a BAWSE being awesome. Not aging. BUt he was with the coolest kids at camp the X-Men being a beast and now cause Bendis was like "Yo Lil homie needs to be on the squad with the neighborhood's number one stunna, Spidey" It ain't avengers. Like sorry I ain't read them cats, I used to see them in the Giant food and get their trading cards and be like they ain't hot. Tony ain't hot with his mullet. Why Cap a wolf? Who is this Black Knight chap? What the fuck is a Jack a Hearts (yes I now know that he's is kinda icy in a Gucci Mane kinda way). Like I respect their stature but I don't think ANY character ain't good enough to be on a team. If it's written well I could see the Punisher, D-man, Forbush Man, and Squirrel Girl as the Avengers.

Okay, seriously, will someone please tell me when people who are simply disagreeing with a concept became the definition of hating. Yes, Vince and I think Wolverine and Spider-Man are not Avengers material. You know what? Maybe we don't think Dr. Druid or the Scott Lang Ant-Man or Tigra aren't Avengers material, too. But they were. And Wolverine and Spider-Man are. Doesn't mean we agree with the idea. Just like someone might have an issue with a raincoat-wearing sidekick being turned into a vampire. Difference is, you actually do hate that. Come on, man...

To clarify:
My feelings on Wolverine as an Avenger? Not hating
My feelings on Hal Jordan as Parallax or in Miller's All-Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder or in the New 52? Hating.

.....Tigra?.....Scott Lang?.... remove they quill from my heart.... (screw Dr. Anthony Ludgate Druid).
I said "maybe". I picked some of the lesser-powerful members. They were players during my favorite story eras. No disrespect meant.

I've definitely been way-outside of keeping up in any meaningful way with The Avengers over the years...the looming Whedon movie reminds me of this, as do recent EOC episodes. The Vision will probably always be my favorite member merely because I got carried away, in grade school (probably 6th grade now that I think about it) with The Vision, in some black-&-white Scholastic digest, something like that...it contained the story with the "even an android can cry" bit. I think I had The Vision and Roy Batty from Blade Runner tangled up in my excitable grade school mind...
When I stumble across The Avengers in current comics it's from reading Thunderbolts. Where would you point me if one wanted to read about Cage in The Avengers prior to Parker taking over the 'Bolts, true-believers? And what the hell happened to The Vision anyway? I think I equate him to Martian Manhunter these days, maybe visually or something. They seem like permanent-outsider archetypes for their respective universes.

For Cage? Breakout. And the Yu-penciled arc with the Hood's Masters of Evil. I'm probably wrong, but I think the best place to get some Vision is Young Avengers.

I don't know, I'm not an avid reader. They should have Legion of Super-Heroes style try out issues

I don't know if that charter stopped, and if Tony Stark took over the financing. Otherwise, SHIELD & Helicarriers, Quinjets and mansions, defense system lazers, monitor boards, and even that big round shiny "A-arrow" meeting table is funded by the taxes of the 616 US citizens.

Actually you were hating. I think one thing is that you're connecting the general definition of Hate to the current slang usage of hating. Like to be completely real I'm hating on Dr.Druid-I'm dissing the character for no actual reason than I don't think he's cool. Nowhere did I say you guys HATE Wolverine but going by how I am using the slang term you guy were hating on him. It's no different than when Chris hates on Bendis (being that I don't think Chris actually HATES the man). Like I actually do HATE HATE Jubilee being a vampire because I feel it's just a dumb creative choice that damages the character in many ways along with just hating on it cause it's some shit to do in the comics world.

So there are no 'shades of gray' with hating? Just so I'm clear. As soon as I shrug my shoulders at an idea I'm hating on it? Because my hating on who is an Avenger isn't at the same level as Chris hating on Bendis. Or my hating on what's become of Hal Jordan. But if hating is hating then .

Jubilee is a vampire? What the what? Man…I need to start READING Marvel Previews and stop rolling it up in order to swat flies with. That's the kind of hating you guys are talking about right?

I hate some things. Child abuse, intolerance, religious zealotry...stuff like that. But comics? I could never hate on comics.
