I read the first issue and enjoyed it, but figured I'd wait for the collection (like I did with Echo).
My wife often reminds me I'm impatient and with Rachel Rising on comiXology I'll be reading it as it's released - albeit one issue behind with each price drop.
I'm taking it slow, rereading the first issue and enjoying each page of the second. Moore is introducing us to some interesting characters, that's for certain.
And I thank the stars he's still utilizing his gender-specific word balloons because you can not assume you know someone by their name here.
I think I'm going to be sneaking some peeks at my Fire whenever I can today because I'm jonsin' for the third issue.

What is the basic premise of the series, David?

Rachel was killed. She clawed her way out of her makeshift, shallow grave. She has very vague memories of the night the incident happened. People "see" her differently (her friends, her aunt, and her cat).
It's a mystery. There are some strange things happening that I can't quite put my finger on yet. I'll report on the third issue when I finish it.

This might be a chance for me to get in on the ground floor on a Moore comic. I'm a huge admirer of his art (anatomy, faces, clothes) but completely missed the train on SIP (as in it was not in my country but every magazine said it was amazing) but I read a fat stack of Echo singles (bargain bin) and loved them.

That definitely sounds intriguing. I confess (I know, wrong thread) that I've never read Moore's comics but maybe this new series is the right time to check out his work.

It's a tough choice. I love Moore but he does do an incredibly slow burn comic. I waited for the collection on Echo and that was great but I want to support him as well. Each page is a thing of beauty and the story is creepy and captivating. I've been getting the singles to show the love but I'll probably double dip on this one. It's worth it and I do think this will be a story worth re reading.

Strangers in Paradise is "Renee's comic" in our house. With the exception of a couple early issues, I haven't read it yet. I read the first Echo trade then waited for The Complete Edition and I'm enjoying it. Like lugaru, I think I'm going to try to follow a Moore series as it happens.

It's a date. Since I'm also reading Echo, I have some comparing and contrasting to touch on.

I'm really enjoying this series so far, getting it in single issues (I'm not a digital person). I have only ever read the first pocket book of Strangers in Paradise, which I did really like. I love Moore's art, his expressions are brilliant.

I'm really enjoying this series. I like the story and a few really sick things have happened in the last few issues. But, what really impresses me are the subtle little expressions that Moore can pull off and how effective it makes the comic since he's writing and drawing. There are some panels where he KNOWS he can do it without a word balloon.
Plus....it's only one comic coming out every ~6 weeks. It will never crossover with Venom and X-23 and make you buy comics you don't want. It's hard to feel like you're wasting your money that way even if a particular issue isn't floating your boat.
I've been reading this in single issue just because I'm sure this will be something that gets bound.

I'm sure someone will remind me, but did this book get mentioned during the 11 o'clockser awards for favorite horror?
Bad on me for not nominating it, if that's the case.
As Dean mentioned above, Moore has such powerful story-telling skills that he can simply use the image without relying upon any text. Sounds obvious, but some artists are too clunky or ineffective while Terry Moores elegantly gets the message across to the reader.

I'm with Dean on this. I'm on single issues and planning on binding it when it's done. Moore's work reads great in singles, but each issue leaves you wanting more. I can't count the times in Echo that I finished the issue just as it was pulling me in. Echo was one of the few series that I sat down after it completed and read it again from #1 to the end.
Rachel Rising is promising to be just as enjoyable a ride as Echo!

It's a great book, but much further along than 3 issues, David. Read 'em all, man! Catch up!

Simply put, Terry Moore is one of the best comic book creators ever. I'm not the one who goes up to creators/artists/actors at shows but when I saw Terry Moore at DragonCon a few year back, I went right up and said "Thank you!" Strangers in Paradise is one of my favorite books of all time...

The monthly is like only getting one bite of a sandwich when you're really hungry. The art is stupefying. The story is complex. After the first issue I relegated myself to the fact I would be double dipping, and I got no problem with that.

Jim, I would suggest you give this title a try. The sixth issue comes out on the seventh of March I believe.
