This doesn't require a direct reference to comics like Donovan's Sunshine Superman, but just the sound or theme triggering memories and ideas of comics.

For some reason particular My Chemical Romance and Muse songs put me in the mind set of New Gods and the Fourth World. These two groups are pretty far out of my normal musical wheel house, but these tunes just resonate.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/-q9q6zl3WIs&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/-q9q6zl3WIs&rel=1</a>

The Black Parade - I see Izaya and Darkseid exchanging Orion and Scott Free at the beginning. Izaya imparting the mission to continue fighting the good fight against Darkseid - then we go full on Fourth World. Bug, Parademons, Mr. Miracle, Big Barda, Female Furies - camera zooming around Apokolips, fighting for freedom against Darkseid.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/BTDwIN9oLvY&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/BTDwIN9oLvY&rel=1</a>

Uprising - This one is more Byrne / Simonson Fourth World involving a no-name incidental character trying to fight to good fight against the oppressive forces of Apokolips. Mostly Parademons and those great Kirby terror beasts and skirmishes in the ghettos. Sadly our nameless hero ends up being made a fine example of by the end of the song, cutting out before the final "we will be Victorious" as Darkseid zaps him with Omega Beams and then unleashes Kalibak, Granny Goodness, and the Female Furies on the resistance fighters.

Darkseid does in fact keep degrading and forcing them. Rock Horns

I've been listening to a lot of My Chemical Romance since seeing Gerard Way at Morrison Con.  Doesn't remind me of a specific comic but I did draw my EOC anthology piece mostly listening to The Black Parade.

I remember hearing Magic by (one-hit wonders) Pilot while I read X-Men #95 on the way home from Maurie's Candy and Newsstand* (my older brother was driving).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iiryJwvDtc

The song was used in Happy Gilmore, so I whenever I see that movie, I invariably equate it with comics** and with
Thunderbird dying.

*Maurie's was truly an amazing place in 1975. In addition to candy (made at the store), they made their own caramel corn and caramel apples, and had every conceivable newspaper, magazine, paperback, and yes, comics. It was probably much smaller than I remember, but they carried every Marvel, DC, Charleton, and Dell comic...Classics Illustrated, too.

** I wonder if that's one of the reasons I love that movie?

When I listen to Gojira's From Mars to Sirius I think of the story as illustrated by Moebius.

Music does not typically make me think of comics I have read, but it does inspire me to create them. The following songs have become soundtracks to the waay too many concepts I have floating in my head.

Muse-Knights of Cydonia
Escala-Kashmir
Slayer-Hell Awaits
Nightwish-Last of the wilds
Metallica-Broken, Beaten, Scarred
Israel K.-Somewhere over the rainbow

Whenever I hear these songs, they remind me of the big final battle in Ultimates 1, vol.2:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/2O9K7E3lDRU&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/2O9K7E3lDRU&rel=1</a>
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/oS62USpMsIw&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/oS62USpMsIw&rel=1</a>
(mostly because I was listening to this soundtrack as I read it for the first time, and everything seemed to synch up perfectly)

This song always makes me think of Marvel's Civil War and its aftermath (the second rap verse basically IS Captain America):

And, subverting the topic of the thread a little... the final pages of Flex Mentallo blasted this music into my head:

Dark Side of the Moon-Pink Floyd. Reminds me of pretty much any Ditko era Dr. Strange story.
