That is pretty good.  For Groo, I was charged on May 31.  In the future, I will return to buying mine from my LCS or Bob Bretall.

Bummer.   You ordered it direct from IDW & they charged you before it was produced?

Same as me getting charged immediately for the artist's editions I was to pick up at SDCC, but that was only about a month before the show, not an indeterminate amount of time in advance.

As a publisher they should really hold off on charging until the books is at least going to the printer & they need the money to maybe help pay the bill.   At least at that point you shouldn;t be waiting that long between charge & delivery.

Just ordered my first Artist Edition, the GIL KANE AMAZING SPIDER MAN.  I feel so sexy.  I'm sorry I missed so many of them in the past.  Know I'm going to drop the dough for the reprint of Rocketeer when they solicit that.

No joke! The Wood edition is just massive. I was considering building a big box frame for it to act as a display. With the size / weight of if though I would have to be damn sure that I had it secured to wall studs or the thing would probably take it right off the wall!

Picked up the two portfolios yesterday at the LCS.  They are either over-priced or under priced depending on your view.  I feel they hit a good price point on the full AEs but these less so.

Late to the party here but finally unwrapped my Born Again artist edition (was saving it for the relative peace and quiet after my wedding, honeymoon, ect)
I'm reading one issue a week and just finished issue 3 (Its takin me bout 40 minutes per issue as I just STARE at this pages in amazement)

Long story short: believe the hype. This thing is glorious.

A 120+ page AE costs ~$120, I don't think there's any way they could offer these for $10.

Price per page will be less when you make a larger package.  I appreciate that they didn't just package these in a flimsy cardboard sleeve.

Also, these were offered at normal discounts, so I got mine from DCBS for $19.49 (35% off).  The big ones you pay pretty much full retail for (or else stores just jack the price to $150+ since they got virtually no discount).

Nice full-sized reproductions of Wrightson/Adams OA for a couple of bucks a page is not that bad when you consider what the originals sell for.

Also, keep in mind these are explicitly produced for art/OA aficionados, not for people who just want to read a story.

Im actually contemplating buying a pulpit and converting it into a bookcase so I can rest the AE on the bible stand... cant think of a better way to display it! (And I could use it to present my OA binder as well...)

That's some bad luck there. Damaged Artist Editions story are making me wince. Still don't know if I want to get one knowing those Fantagraphics HC's are coming out.

So I had a great weekend.  Got 2 months worth of comics from DCBS, which is a lot, and the cherry on the cake...

Awesome!  All the way to South Africa and in perfect condition.  Thanks DCBS.  Hearts

The Schultz Xenozoic volume will be about the same dimensions as the Wood one.    Smiley
