It's been bothering me for awhile now, but marvel is seriously taking advantage of the OCD infected people of America. I like the fact that a book ships once a month because it allows my pocketbook to try other comics, but when they double ship it takes up room for the other comics in my budget. I've been taking it for awhile and my butt is hurting and really affecting the way I walk. (people are seriously starting to notice and I feel ashamed ) Anyways, I need to here some feedback from everyone and I don't know but there may be another post out there on this subject. If your out there and you work for Marvel, WTF?

Maybe Marvel is taking their cues from National Lampoon.

X-men related book are my main purchases over at Marvel and itappears there double shipping strategy has been to cut down on the fringe titles like x23, daken etc and double ship the high selling books. As someone who was buying all the x books anyway it doesn't impact me much and I feel like im getting more issues of the important books, where events in the books might stick with the characters for at least 3 issues.

just playing devil's advocate here. Publishing say 3 x-titles a year (36) plus 4 4 issue minis (16) a total of 52 per year and double shipping a few titles to achieve the same 52 issues per year isn't really "cutting down" is it? It's all about dollars as it should be for a company of that magnitude, unfortunately if hurts the casual reader of the titles (me) and ends up costing them a few dollars from me in the long run. I did like trade waiting for the x-titles when I was still reading them bcause all of the pertinent fringe stuff was usually included in the volume, but I'm getting way off track here. I'm not really reading any double shipped books (in singles) so it's a non issue for me.

This is one place that I LOVE (fricking LOVE) digital. I'm as OCD as anyone on this list probably and digital just makes the whole thing better because I don't have to worry about missing out. If I don't feel like reading X-Men Legacy this week, I don't have to buy it. BUT....I can skip it with the knowledge that I didn't "miss" anything. It'll be right there and I can download it in about 30 seconds 24/7.
I think I posted this idea on another forum, but I wonder a little bit if some of this double-shipping was due to Marvel overcommitting pages to artists. A lot of the "exclusive" contracts are also just Marvel negotiating a bulk rate on pages. Maybe Marvel realized a 6-7 months ago that they'd been too optimistic about the state of the industry and had committed to having too many artists drawing too many pages. They could've just let it run it's natural course OR they could've double-shipped to "use up" all those pages they had committed to. And now that the contracts are up, they can revert to a more sane situation.
Just a theory...

I got tired of the Double Ships on AMS and Thunderbolts so dropped them. I will get them in trade eventually.

Appreciate all the feedback. Really this month was overloaded with double ships and if you don't buy much than you probably wont notice. I buy quite a few Marvel books and love em but I guess instead of complaining is to just drop em. I mean when they double ship Scotty Young's Wizard of Oz book then that should be some kind of red flag that there pushing sales to try and push ahead of DC. They know there fans are dedicated and just feel a little taken advantage of. Oh well Oh I changed the title per David's Request

you've recognized that your ocd is making you buy every issue, now its time to have a little comic existentialism. take a month or so off from buying every week and come back and see what books are really important.
double shipping along with watchmen prequels are just the big publishers milking the last drops out of the direct market before digital over takes it and getting an issue on the day it comes out become less and less important.
at least 300 books come out a month and quite frankly maybe only a handful are worth paying cover price for.

I like the double shipping because I get MORE stories in a year. Instead of the slow wait for a six issue arc over six months, I can get two of those arcs. It also gives more work and money to the talent and set a bar for the talent to stay on the deadlines.
DC could do this for several books but they appear to be having editorial issues again.

I don't buy single issues anymore, so it doesn't matter to me.
I'm glad. A couple years ago I would have been losing my mind.
