In honor of the holiday weekend, I thought I would start this new thread to celebrate the lives of those who served our country but are no longer with us.

I'll start off with a couple of pictures of my dad prior to being deployed to Europe circa 1944.  We never really talked about the war.  I know he got a Purple Heart.  I am pretty sure he was in the Battle of the Bulge.   I know he took home a lot of long lasting fears (especially claustrophobia).  I can only imagine what he went through and miss listening to the Cincinnati Reds with him on WLW.
Love ya Dad!

I don't have any pictures here with me but I'm spending today remembering the two greatest soldier that I ever knew.  Both of my Grandfathers.  Pinkney Wellington Hamrick, and William Phillip Brown.  Both served with the navy during WWII.  I know that both of the men had their struggles with personal demons and alcoholism and weren't the best of dad's but by the time I was born both were sober and desperately trying to make up for lost time.  I can't imagine two greater men and both are and were my heroes.
