Chaos is the name of the game this week as we kick the insanity up a few notches while talking about the 999 Challenge, Stan Lee's Mighty 7 from Stan Lee Comics, Alex Saviuk, and the fine folks at Archie (including the Spider-Man newspaper strip, Sonic, Archie, Mega Man, and more), an extended look at Jonathan Hickman's run on Fantastic Four (John Byrne, DOOM, the Waid/Wieringo run, etc.), The John Romita Amazing Spider-Man Artist Edition from IDW (Steve Ditko + Amazing Annual #1 with the Sinister Six, Ross Andru, Gil Kane, Romita Jr, Romitaman, Kingpin, ARch-nemeses, Morbius, and more), Dean Haspiel and Make Mine Me, The Believer #88 from McSweeney's, John Carter and the Gods of Mars, Cartoon Network's DC Nation block, Adventure Time, David Lapham's Age of Apocalypse, and a couple buckets more!Direct LinkIntro: Chrome with Zero TimeOutro: Green River by Gene Harris

Awesome. I love it when there is a new EOC on Thursday morning when I get up to feed chickens and review comics. Loved the first part thru the FF talk. On the super-long arc thing....I really don't mind it and that might surprise some since I'm the first one to throw rocks when there is a long story. The problem is that long stories need to be better. Too often they're just a ho-hum story that is milked over extra issues. I think it's a high-risk/high-return strategy. If they nail it....they've breathed new life into a superhero series that was probably stale as hell. If they screw up......it's just one more nail in the coffin for some of these series. Personally, I'd bet that we could get more storytelling like this if the editors were better. It seems like editors mainly just keep the writers steering toward the next mega-event and also do a lot of back-slapping. They really should be challenging the creators more. A good editor shouldn't necessarily be your friend. They should be like a good teacher who pushes you to do better work.

Hickman's FF is indeed a quality comic.
So is Waid's Daredevil.
Read a comic that you enjoy.
'Nuff Said.
