I'm further into the episode. Nice job on the FF talk Jason! Thumbs Up

Regarding Valeria, she appeared as a teenager or preteen during the Claremont/Larocca run. She went by the name Valeria Von Doom and claimed to be the future daughter of Sue and Victor.

Sometime before the Waid/Wieringo run, something happened and she was de-aged to a fetus and I think Sue gave birth to her.

Ive never liked the Valeria character because of the Claremont/Larocca FF-era stain of convoluted storytelling that has me confused to this day.  Talk about a 2+ year arc on FF...that one was a real stinker with no pay-off.

Man all the Doom, Kingpin and other villain talk made me gitty, but I was sooo bummed that:

A:  I was not able to get any of you to sit in the roundtable we did for this week's Marvel Noise episode.   Cry Cry

Try making your invitation more flexible, feeling out who is interested before picking a time to record.

Please note that Kingpin is a Spider-Man villain.

He was always in the FOX 90's Spidey cartoon. He's also in mad Spidey games.

So for a lot of people Kingpin is

Spidey>>Daredevil

I don't like to correct the DAP of Kings but he's only partially right with me on the X-Men cartoon.
I read #1 before it came out but the fact that it came out bascially when it got hot and I had trading cards and comics in my mailbox each month did push me over the edge into FULL X-Fandom (I wasn't a Marvel fan, I fucks with the X-mens).

I still hear those voices when I read them comics. Every time Scott says "Jean"

I agree with Vince that Ditko does in fact draw the definitive Spider-Man. It's a fact-he made up the costume and web shooter and the figure pose all that.BUT Romita does draw the definitive Peter Parker, like THAT is Peter in er'thing. I know y'all said that but super nerdy Parker I didn't see until I was in my older teens.

I might try that FF.

Sorry Walking Dead ain't never going to be TMNT big. Me and folk still have our Playmates Action figures from '87. And Eastman and Laird really only owe a little bit to Marvel or Miller for part of the begining of the first issue. THere ain't no Shredder dude in DD. And by the time that animated Mini series hit NOTHING of DD connection can be seen. MOTHER. FUCKING. KRANG. TMNT is like Spider-man or Batman, it's growing bigger, new takes for new generations and different cultures (TMNT had an Anime and fought the Power Rangers). Walking Dead is cool and all but it's for adults and it will end but Turtle Power never will.

I love what Dean posted but the only thing I have with this method for me is that if I spent all this time making my brand why in the world would I want to work FOR you? I'd work with you, team up but for you for some editor that I might think have had wacktacular ideas and directions of books. NAH sun. I'm good. I'mma Puffy Combs this shit to a plaque.

The thing I wonder about with regard to not selling your great ideas to companies is whether there are characters or story ideas that are so intrinsically good that they can't miss striking a chord & becoming phenomenally popular. Seems it's more about the execution of the idea. In the hands of a great writer & artist, any idea can be made to work. Conversely, characters or ideas that sound cool on the surface can be turned into dreck.

Examples:
Swamp Thing in the hands of Alan Moore gave us horror & beauty. In the hands of others it's a pile of snot covered in leaves.
Raiders of the Lost Ark vs Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Same characters, same core story concept (archaeologist on the trail of mythical treasure). One's a cherished classic, the other is…really, really not.

There are no bad characters. There are no story ideas that can't work. There is only bad execution.

Just because it's in the show notes doesn't mean we talk about it for long.  I feel like we've hardly discussed it of late (and I'm in favor of that). And realistically, it's only a 13 episode (ergo week) thing, and just wrapped up so you won't hear discussions of it until October, at least.

I thought I was going to slide into an alternate universe when I heard Vince actually DO A STAN LEE IMPRESSION!!! And that, done well!!

Alex Segura did indeed stop living with Agent M when he moved out to Queens to live with his girlfriend. Agent M and his wife still remain down the block though. Literally.

David, en fuego, baby.

I'm currently getting a healthy helping of Jason's Fantastic Four coverage.  And see, I can hear The Monster on Vince's line as Jason covers all the rabbit trails -- and there it is, Vince speaks, covered in Kirby Krackle.

"Masterful!" exclaims Jason!

Actually, listening to you put this in words Jason, helps me understand why you guys are the creme de la creme. Well said, Mr. Man!

Signing off for now to see what err'body else has to say...

Heart Mr J B Wood!

Betweeen your FF journey and enlightenment to appreciating the Ménage....you have me smiling! Yes

 Cheesy ....see?

It's funny, regarding the story and art quailty not being a match, towards the end of this long arc ive been wanting to turn the pages so fast that the art has only needed to be suitable, which it has been easily.

Our FF segment over on Marvel Noise was formed by Chris Campbell and I trying to get Alan's opinion of the book after being re-exposed to these current arcs, given that he bailed on the book (I think) shortly after you all did.

Nice roundup, thanks for the shout out, Mr. W & Tha KANG.  It should be said truly, we do spoil the absolute daylights out of it on Marvel Noise. Play by play.  We're the segment you can listen to after you've read it, or if you never plan on reading it.

Man all the Doom, Kingpin and other villain talk made me gitty, but I was sooo bummed that:

A:  I was not able to get any of you to sit in the roundtable we did for this week's Marvel Noise episode.   Cry Cry

B:  No one brought it up Big Sad

BTW Kingpin is BOTH the arch villains of Spidey and Daredevil.  He's the Kingpin of Crime!

If I'm being real, Marvel Noise doesn't get brought up very often, and we have the host of the show on our show Smiley My point? Don't take those things personally.  Especially in a week when we DO shout out another segment of Marvel Noise.

As to not getting us to sit in on a round table, you have to understand that I didn't know if I would be able to commit to a 2-hour weekly podcast at the start of this thing, and so anything else podcast related is hard to pull off. While I enjoy guesting on other shows, I'm always upfront with folks that I never feel bad if they don't ask me b/c I usually need a few weeks advance notice to have any hope of fitting it in. And in this case, you seemed to have a set time all set which would never work for me. General rule of thumb...the weekends are family time. I don't do podcasting on the weekends.

Unless Michael Bay takes them and makes them aliens in his new, impossible to follow, tone deaf "blockbuster."  Oops.  Wink

Seriously, I agree.  The Turtles are a cultural phenomenon of a different stripe.

I do take criticism well. But not unsolicited, and 99.9% of the time not from a listener.

This is where we're having a break down.
As I've said about a million times, the show is not and never will be scripted. We don't tell each other what we're going to talk about. If I or anyone else wants to talk about something, then we talk about it.

So if we want to talk about a pop culture phenomenon that is DIRECTLY connected to comics then we're going to talk about it. Especially after the season finale. If you're tired of hearing about it you can fast forward through the 3 minutes we spent on it.

When we start taking programming advice from the peanut gallery is when I stop being a part of this show.

And the Cardinals blew all the way to a World Series Championship last year. Suck It.
