I know and yet people complained about the narration boxes, which were over done on purpose,  Jason Aaron is making fun on how those boxes are used by other writers so much (Batman)

I'm worried that I'm going to have to read the whole event as ironically over-done in order to enjoy it.  Here's hopin' Hickman and Brubaker pull me back in.

Was Avengers vs. X-Men #1: Infinite #1 just an one-shot? I noticed that there is no #2. That is bizarre that they hype this new way of reading comics, call it "Infinite" but there isn't a #2.  Bangs Head

I have to re-read AvX #2. Maybe because I was tired when I read it last night, but I thought it was ok, not as good as the first issue.

Wait for it during the Avengers movie.  I bet they run an ad in front of the movie.

Just because he is ding it on purpose does not mean it's inherently more entertaining. it's just not fun to read.

It not bad either. i like the art. i can get why people are doing what they are doing. but I did go back and read it. there were so many thing i forgot about. Why? because this comic is average, dull, and forgettable to me.

The artwork in the second issue is absolutely unforgivable. You will never convince me JrJr actually did this. No fracking way. Unforgivable!

Good to know I'm not alone on this.

I was shocked.

I don't own a copy but I found some pages online so I could see what you're talking about.  It's fun to look at the characters in the background.  They look like little action figures.  The Wolverine on page 11 is hilarious.

Comics were definitely happier, breezier and more confident in their own strengths before Hollywood and the Internet turned the business of writing superhero stories into the production of low budget storyboards or, worse, into conformist, fruitless attempts to impress or entertain a small group of people who appear to hate comics and their creators. - Grant Morrison

I still maintain that Aaron's script for #2 could have made for an ABSURDLY fun issue with an artist who was up for it.

Massive missed opportunity.

I agree. The art completely fails the script here.

What's weird is that JRJ is usually the best at drawing fighting.

The individual panels where Scott and Cap fight are really great.  What he didn't do well was all of the single panels were lots of characters are fighting.

Domino looked rough.  So I see why Wood is angry.

AvX Vs
issue will be really fun though.

I thought the art was very inconsistent.  Round two felt like a macro look at the event and then all the different books will zoom in on the micro (Colossus vs Hulk, Thing and Luke Cage vs Namor).  But still, I'm enjoying myself.

The narration boxes felt really stiff to me; like Aaron was trying to write like Chris Claremont or somebody and just couldn't quite pull it off.  Or maybe he did and thats just how that style reads to me.  The dialogue though was spot on.

Wolverine and X-Men was fantastic.  A great tie in issue; I got more buzz off that issue then I did in AvX #2

Agreed.  Wolverine and the X-Men was the best AvX book I've read yet.  Tie-in or otherwise.

I the caption boxes. I thought they were fun.

I didn't dig the art or the story. I still have no idea why this story is 12 issues, or why I should care.

I feel like this story is written for people that know and love these characters, and will like the story because they like the characters. I don't feel like this story is written to be an engrossing, well-crafted story.

The VS tie in series's the most ridiculous thing ever and I only bought it for the artists involved (drawing some of my favorite characters)
And you know what? I enjoyed this quite a bit. In fact, i thought VS #1 succeeded in every way that AvX #2 failed.
This was over the top in grand fashion but the artists here pulled it off with incredibly results where JRJR failed.

Just look at the page of Namor knocking the Thing out of the water if you want to see why this VS issue is pretty tight. It may be ridiculous, but this is some fun chaos told by some seriously top-tier visual storytellers. I could tell that they had fun just going nuts with these characters and I had a ton of fun too as a result.
Hope the main story can start to capture some of this--but I'm not sure if that will be possible until the JRJR issues finish up (and I usually like him!?)

Okay - heavy spoilers ahead

[RANT]
You have got to be fucking kidding me.  We have some of the best writers in comics working on this book, Brubaker has one multiple Eisners and there is actually a plot beat where they toss Wolverine out of a plane to take him out of the action!

I don't get it, Captain America, the greatest living solider, tactical genius decides that the best way to keep Wolverine from interfering is to dump him in Antarctica?!?  Off the top of my head I can think of ten ways he gets back to civilization and I'm just a flooring contractor on Long Island.

I've been enjoying the spectacle of AvX.  I love superheros, fast action and dumb fun.  There still has to be good story telling.  This bit just struck me as really sloppy.

Don't get me started on the whole - 'lets split the team up into 5 parts to search all over the globe.'  *sigh*
I'm just gonna go to my man cave and re-read Secret Wars and Crisis on Infinite Earths for my does of 80's storytelling.
(Who am I kidding, I'm still gonna buy the next 9 issues)

Erick I thought the same exact thing. What happened in this issue was very odd.
