I somehow didn't preorder Incognito, I could've sworn I did. Guess I will have to wait until next week to read it when I can get to Midtown.

I love the whole "lighting cigar with money" thing. Especially the Simpsons where Krusty lit a C-note, used that to light Action Comics #1, and used that to light his cigar. (or was it the other way around )

Left The Punisher #1 at the shop. Don't care if it is Opena, it's not worth $4 to me. Replaced it with Bisley's Full Cirkle #2, which obviously IS worth $4 to me.
Mark Schultz was there when Marty and I walked in. I told him I liked Peanuts. Hee.

Especially the Simpsons where Krusty lit a C-note, used that to light Action Comics #1, and used that to light his cigar. (or was it the other way around ) I must say, I'm always surprised whenever a writer can come at the same genre with a new approach, and Brubaker did it. Again? I really like this peek-in. This is an anti-hero with no real reason to be liked, but what's going around him is interesting enough--and then there's a spark of likeability salvaged out of this first story that potentially will save the antihero too. So I'm on board-- --and I'm inspired too. Yay Brubaker. And David.

I am a big Brubaker fan, but I will grab this when it hits trade. Just for format....it'll be pretty on the shelf.

Speaking of, does anyone know what was kinda the reaction to the crossover at the time? Just curious.

Ah, now see you hit me with the guilt. I am being optimistic. If sales get that bad, which I doubt, I will send my support. But, if Criminal gets traded, I don't see why this won't. My justified reasoning.

My justified reasoning. I know Marvel collects everything. And yes, Criminal was traded. But Criminal also had a format change. I don't think that was because business was booming. The Icon imprint is different than Marvel's other lines. I don't think the creators get paid up front or get a page rate. Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips make money on Incognito and Criminal when people buy the book. Poor sales may mean the collection never happens. Sure, it's Ed and Sean and people will come based on their names alone. And while Marvel publishes it, I think the formula is more akin to that of a self-publisher and independent creator than someone that does mainstream work for the big two. Captain America and Uncanny X-Men and Marvel Zombies and Vinyl Underground pay the bills and give them the opportunity to put out these titles. But this is on their dime and the support of the single issues go a long way.

I recently listened to this episode, and I'm glad that someone shares the same love for "Our Worlds at War" that I have. I bought all of the issues in "floppies," and I also have the (not) complete collection. You're the man, VinceB!
