Yeah, from his very first appearance, Lord Julius was hilarious! Not far in, I remember Sim relying on a lot of comic book 'in-jokes' (moon knight, of course, and then he gets more subtle as the series goes on). I wonder how some of these jokes hold up today?

He uses the Roach character for most of his super hero spoofs. I'm 20 issues in and I've seen Roach spoof Batman and Captain America. In my opinion, both spoofs still hold up.

I pulled out the first phone book last night and read the first issue. What struck me was how much Dave Sims seemed to be trying to channel the artwork of Barry Windsor-Smith.

Also, it's pretty interesting that the convention of Cerebus being presented in gray tone, while everything and everyone else is black and white line work, was established from the very beginning.

I've always wanted to read this series. It's intimidating--not just because of how beloved this series is or how one feels about Sims personally, but damn, all those phone books would take up a ton of space

Lol yeah, it takes up an entire shelf on my bookcase. I always thought it was a very rewarding book to read, because if you start from the beginning, you get an eventual payoff for all the plotlines. Sometimes you have to wait a looong time for them, but its worth it!!!

This funded in less than 9 hours and is now more than double funded.

I jumped in about an hour after it went up @ was backer #21.......

I think it's super-cool to get a narrated version of a digital comic & I really want to hear Sim doing the voices.

Completely unexpected announcement completely amazing.

Also someone else pointed this out but it is cool

This makes me think that it would be neat to get commentary on some digital comics, ala what Valve does for some of its video games.
