If I could watch NFL games on my ipad, the tv and cable would be gone. Does anyone know if you can watch NFL games on the iPad?
No, but... Those pesky Thursday night football games are available to be viewed live on NFL.com. I hope this helps. The Tiki

After nearly a year of free cable at my apartment they finally wised up and put a video trap on the line. Went out and got an amplified antenna and now I get all my local broadcast channels, most in HD. Gotta love CreateTV, its basically a better version of FoodNetwork (without the "stars") , Travel, PBS combined. As long as I can still watch Wipeout I'm happy.

I canceled my cable the other Day. It's Comcast,or what I like to call them Conca$t. Them Bastards charged me 1.99 to cancel my cable. WTF!?
I can do with out the cable, but I kept the high speed internet. They are the fastest in town and there is no competition .

So last week I wake up and turn on the television to check out the morning news. What I see is a blue screen with white text stating I need to contact my cable company to order a cable box. What's interesting is that I still receive the basic broadcast channels in HD (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, WB, ION, and PBS stations) and Antenna TV (Too Close For Comfort, Burns and Allen, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents, y'all!) so I'm not completely SOL in my room.
Nevertheless, my wife and I have been deciding whether or not I should get a cable box for this television or check back into a Roku player. Today I was checking out Amazon and came pretty close to ordering the Roku 2 XS, but work got in the way of, you know, work. On the way home we stop at BJ's to pick up a few things and right there at the end of the TV aisle is a Roku 2 XS bundled with a HDMI cable and a promo card for two free months of Hulu Plus. For the same price Amazon is selling the box alone.
I grabbed it.
And immediately set it up once we came home.
This thing is pretty sweet. Netflix is connected and I'm staring at HBO's Star Trek Collection so I think I'm going to be watching the original crew's theatrical adventures over the next few nights.
Not sure if I'll be getting a cable box for this television, but for now, I'm gonna be busy seeing what this little guy has to offer.

I will now compare comics to cable TV...ready....go.... I find that once you break free of the cycle, watching TV shows right when they come out it is similar to when you break the Wednesday habit in comics. For me it happened when I missed about half a season of everything I used to watch due to having two jobs. Now I am behind and realized that you know, didn't really make a difference. Also, even if you do like to watch some things and they aren't available in a timely fashion I highly recommend Hulu Plus. The ads are annoying but stuff is up the day after it airs, and with a Roku you can stream to your TV. We now switch back and forth between Netflix and Hulu depending on the season since there is no penalty for cancelling a subscription or for reactivating one. Hulu during new TV season and then Netflix through the summer/early fall. It works great for us.

I've never used Hulu Plus but are their ads similar to what pops up before youtube videos sometimes? I installed the Adblock extension a while back and I almost never see an ad before a streaming video, from any website.

I recently got the software playOn from www.playon.tv and it's amazing. It lets your pc (my mac thru basecamp) act as a media server for roku, ps3, or xbox360 as well as to your mobile devices. It collects all the available online video streams, along with your netflix and hulu plus accounts and others, making them easily browse-able. The benefit with it and your hulu plus is that all those pesky "web only" shows are now easily streamed to your tv. The shear number of places it streams from is awesome. I can now get Conan from the TBS stream and the DIY and HGTV channel streams. Also, thru today the lifetime key for the software is $79 with a free roku lite...which ended up being an amazon gift card for $50 since they sold thru their available units. Great deal, and there is also a two week free trial if you just want to check it out. Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2

uh oh.... http://warmingglow.uproxx.com/2012/05/hulu-is-about-to-make-a-huge-mistakeAccording to the NY Post, Hulu, which attracted 31 million users last month, is in discussions to discontinue their free-for-everyone streaming platform. Instead, visitors would have to “log in with their cable or satellite TV account number” because “cable companies and networks [are] looking to protect and profit from their content.” NOT GOOD. -mike

I really don't think Hulu will go for this. If they do they may be shooting themselves in the foot and allowing companies like Netflix to become more attractive. The Tiki

hulu has shit the bed and missed the point at every turn is only natural that they would make you have a cable sub to watch shows with ads. look around, its big media circling the wagons. say on...... july 12th
