Bullet point bits for possible discussion:

* Definitely amped up the energy and excitement from the previous issue. As it should be with all things Crisis, we now know a Flash is the key, in this case the crucial element in the eradication of the Anti-Life Equation (that's one hell of an important kiss, Barry).

* Green Arrow, front and center.

* The Kalibak appearance threw me for a loop. Paging through the issue before reading (Yes, I know I'm stupid...), I originally assumed it was King Caesar from Kamandi. Damn tricky gene-splicing Simian and Mokkari. That's Mokkari's finger hitting the enter key on the first page, releasing the ALE into the planet's communications systems. Him is bad news.

* Like Tom, I thought the image of the recently-revamped Metal Men and Tawny in the Fortress was spooge-worthy. Ditto that of B'wana...sorry...Freedom Beast.

* Love the not-so-subtle riff on Hunger Dogs with the canine-riding Justifiers.

* Producing the Daily Planet from the Fortress was a nice touch. The Ray would be the world's greatest paperboy!

* Great resolve from Turpin. Alas, it was a futile effort...

* Beautiful visuals, all around, but I've got to give Pacheco the MVP for this issue.

* Godfrey needs a slap.

Unlike Turpin, I give this issue a thumbs up!!!   Thumbs Up

This issue was great.  I almost screamed out "HOLY SHIT!" when Shilo got shot after announcing that there was a way to win.  It was a great way to put the final nail in the hope coffin.

It had a really cool "Two Towers" type feel to it...things do not look good for the good guys.

I also had a bit of a nerd moment when Barry told Iris "Sorry I am late"

Funny moment on the train today to work. Everyone sitting quietly and listening to Ipods, I just imagined they were hearing Darkseid propaganda. Tongue

Do you think Tawky Tawny writes a column about Post-Apocalyptic men's fashion for the paper?

We also see why Libra is so concerned about the Flash's presence.

I'm curious to see how Geoff Johns spins Morrison's goofball shit into the Return of Barry Allen proper.

Anyone else have a sense at times that when you're reading the book, we're missing panels from the story?  I'm used to the whole concept of "action between panels" when reading comics, but even with things like the opening sequence at the Hall of Justice, it seemed like Ray was making reference to saving Tatooed Man but we didn't see it happen.

Because its Morrison, I figure it'll make more sense in the end, but it still takes me out of the story at times.

I completely understand what you are talking about. I don't know if it is just the way I am wired, but I never have that problem with Morrison books. I remember that his JLA run had that same sort feel to it.

This might seem weird but I have always dug reading stories where the story is moving faster than I am.

You're not alone on that, it stretches the re-reading value so much when that happens.

Wow, Ga put such a nice fight, it's what I like about the character when he's got no reserves for anything else. He'll fight like an army till he dies trying.

Now, help a noob here, it's just a speculation, but T-Man's tattoo-anyone got the feeling there might be a link back to Metron?

And Godfrey just reminds me of the over-preachy woman from the Mist. They're both annoying lol.

The last page has gotta be this month's "HOLY SHIT" moment, if not the year.

It is definitely a link to Metron....which is a bit poetic in light of Tattooed Man's perspective of learning from Final Crisis: Submit

My first reaction was that he had become a human Mother Box...I haven't read Submit, though so maybe I'm missing something.

Final Crisis: Submit Spoilers below:

Black Lightning saves Tattooed Man's family from justifiers before being captured. He made Tattooed man memorize a circuit pattern that holds great importance. This is the pattern on Metron and the same pattern that Tattooed man sports in Final Crisis

That just blew my mind. AWESOME.

I was making the judgement call from #1. I always have this thing with FC in particular to re-read #1 until whatever the issue is and get a new clue on something. I didn't get SUBMIT either, but I can't wait to see what unfolds of that situation.

So could that be
the circuitry of a mother box
?

Thanks for the Submit spoiler my LCS was out of copies when I went yesterday afternoon.  I guess I better find this soon.

Yes, you can. In fact, Tom's summation of the events of the issue are far more enjoyable a read than the actual comic.
