Glad you got the BOLD reference slurmo. Perhaps they will play #slurmcon. Anyone up for some free digital comic goodness??? I have a code for DAREDEVIL SEASON ONE. To be honest I have pretty low expectations for this one since I can't see anything coming close to X-MEN SEASON ONE for me. But if you're down, same thing as before, please share your thoughts after reading it on the forum or your own website/podcast. First responder gets it. UPDATE: Code Claimed!

I bet the Big 2 don't want you to use them that way, but I don't think you should feel badly about it. In fact, as others have said, I think if the publishers took a less myopic view of things, they would ENCOURAGE you to share them.

I think it's a great idea to share. I'd be happy to take those pesky codes off of anyone's hands I never actually thought about that, but the 2 for 1 quality of it is pretty nice. Double nice when folks share.

Publishers should encourage it sharing.

Strangely enough (or not), a "share the code with a friend" campaign would make a book that is more expensive, but comes with a download code, seem like a better value.

This thread getting bumped up reminds me I still haven't fulfilled my obligation on my side of the deal, so here it is: X-Men Season One I liked it quite a bit. You could remove the word balloons and I would probably like it almost as much, I'm that much of a sucker for Mckelvie's line work. That’s not to disparage Dennis Hopeless’ writing (although I’m not sure I’ve read anything else by him, any recommendations?) , it fulfills its mission, which I think is to take the first year of two of X men comics and distill it down to its bare essence and at the same time updating it to take place in the modern age. I’m not looking at the book as I write this, but I’m pretty sure that consists of modern clothing and probably an iphone reference. Jean Grey is the POV character. Shades of Kitty Pryde showing up at the mansion for the first time, but with the added element of 2/3rds of the schools seeming to have a crush on her right off the bat. Thankfully they don’t go the Ultimate route The structure of the book is that it has a series of small scenes highlighting each of the teams origins, followed by a scene or two highlighting their personality quirks and how their powers are affected by them, all the while the threat of Magneto is in the background and it culminates with the confrontation with him at Cape Citadel at the end. It’s not too dense of a book, and would be great to hand to a new reader as an intro to the X-men. It sums up the “Fighting for those that hate and fear them” byline pretty nicely. Bonus points that the art is absolutely gorgeous, and in addition to Mckelvie that’s also because Mighty Mike Norton place the Gerhard to Mckelvie’s Sim on backgrounds. I'm not sure how these are doing in the market, and if we will see season 2. I would like to see the same creative team do a take on the All New All Different roster from the 70s if they do. I'd give it a solid B

Agree. The "modern" lingo on occasion was my only real issue with the book, but that is admittedly just one of my hangups. I wish it was longer too. Pretty, pretty book

I bought Uncanny X-Force. My friend bought Ultimate X-Men. We traded the codes, so that we each had a digital copy of the others book, to read for later. Is this some sort of piracy?
There's a long history of people trading comics. If it's not wrong, I have a long list of comics I buy with codes for digital copies. Anyone want to trade? If it is somehow wrong, then I guess I won't bring it up again.
Opinions?

No, it's not a form of piracy. You're not illegally reproducing and re-distributing the material to whoever wants to download it, just letting a friend read your copy. It doesn't strike me as fundamentally different from handing him the comic book you purchased and letting him read it.

piracy is something that lawyers tell large media companies they should worry about in an attempt to get billable hours.

Not to be selfish, but I'm happy to trade the digital copy codes for something I don't usually buy. I have codes for: A vs X issues 3-6, Captain America 13, Spider-men 1, New Avengers 27, and Avengers 27.
Send me a PM if you want to swap codes.

Jim and I agree. That is how you know we are RIGHT. You bought the comic. The comic came with a digital code. You paid for the digital code. You gave the digital code away. Your friend redeems it and now you can no longer use the digital code.....it is "used up". No piracy concerns. The problem with traditional digital piracy is that the scanner is creating using the paper copy that he/she purchased to create a wholly new copy and they keep the old one. Then they replicate the digital copy over and over and over. These digital codes are just like you bought two comics and gave one away. Although, I would LOVE to see how they account for the digital code on their books.

I'm digital only and thought about finding someone who was mainly print where we could help each other out.
I was thinking a 50/50 split of their cost would really help subsidize what they spend a month, and I would be able to save from buying $3.99 issues and no clear discount schedule from Marvel.

At least with movies the industry, shocking, disagrees. I believe eBay will remove the sale Of digital codes due to the licensing. Whie they don't claim it is piracy, they do claim it is copyright infringement. http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20120418/20330218550/is-selling-your-ultraviolet-code-copyright-infringement.shtml
