The old farts on the forum probably remember the limited run portfolios from the 70s and 80s.   Sadly this seems to be a long lost part of comic book collecting.   I scan Ebay for deals and steals of these great forgotten artifacts of my comic collecting heyday.   I remember someone picked up the Brent Anderson Ka-zar portfolio a few months back, so I decided to start a new thread in honor of the portfolio.

I just picked up this one today.

So, any other fans out there?   Does anyone still have a copy of "The Animated Cerebus" or some other great portfolio?

That was Steve who scored that Anderson Ka-Zar gem back in October at NYCC.

I was a big fan of the Fastner and Larson pieces.

Loved 'em!  Got the Michael Golden Dr. Strange portfolio and the Marshall Rogers Batman portfolio amongst others...

(sorta thinking of bringing them back on my own with my own work- kinda in the midst of a couple of pieces now)

I found a copy of The Animated Cerebus on Amazon for $6.99.   I pulled the trigger.   It is supposed to be in Good shape.  We'll see.

Cool thread idea! I remember that Warriors of the Shadow Realm portfolio. Smiley

I loved those portfolios in the '70s and would have bought a ton of them if I'd had the money. Alas, I didn't so I focused my purchases primarily on Berni Wrightson portfolios. I have all 3 of the Frankenstein portfolios that were released as he was working on the book. here's a link to images from the first two:

I also own his Edgar Allan Poe portfolio, which can be seen online here:

... and his Apparitions portfolio:

... and a Jeff Jones portfolio that was in the same size and format as Apparitions, titled World Without End:

Finally, I have The Fantasy Worlds of Alex Niņo, a large portfolio in the same format as the Wrightson Poe portfolio:

I need to dig all these out and look through them again! It's been a while...
