I felt like I was reading Highlights Magazine again I had to keep switching back and forth between the near finished and finished image to spot the differences. You drew the dickens out of it, so it was hard to spot the subtle additions.

Like everyone else, I love seeing the process happen, so I decided to go extra deep on this commission for Johnny the Homicidal Drummer.

Let's get started with Part 1!

I printed out the approved layout on regular printer paper. I taped it to a thin piece of white acrylic
I salvaged from Work and put my desk lamp against it for some cheap lightboxing.



I start penciling with a very soft lead (4B) getting the shapes transferred and starting to play with the details.



Tightening up the pencils, going to keep things more open since this will have some marker put on it later.



Starting to Ink Hercules, I should wait until I more penciled but I am crazy like that  . I was going for happy/a little insane for the facial expression. I hope that came across  .



End of part one! Thor is gonna need some (a lot of) work and I need to put some minor background stuff in before we start coloring.

Part 2!

I had some problems with the bottom half of the layout and decided to redo all that...



Reworked a little bit with some intial BG shapes. I liked the idea of Herc posting up on the Hammer.



Doing some KFO Thor...



A little bit more....



Colors! I played with the costume colors a little bit, hopefully Johnny won't mind....



More Colors.



Next up I have to add some basic BG stuff, and another pass on the colors with white highlights, but that will have to wait until next time!
