Looking at the images in the USA Today article, I realized that superheroes on Earth 2 scream a lot.

And the winner is...
Alan Scott.
on Earth 2.
Introducing Jade is going to be a little more problematic. Are Jade & Osiris the only two of the Brightest Day resurrectees not in the new 52?

Hopefully one day we will be in 2001, when an alternate reality characters (Sunfire) sexuality was not a big deal. I think I might re-read exiles this weekend.

As long as Robinson writes a good story does it really matter if Alan Scott is gay? Unless he makes the matter a plot-point I personally don't care.

if i were dc comics, id be troubled that a lot of people thought hal jordan was gay. just like they thought green lantern was black when hearing of the movie. speaks to legacy characters as mass appeal.

I was hoping it would be Batman. I guess you missed Catwoman #1 The bat family really did not change much, because let's face it, it didn't really need it.

2) I'm even more for the day when a prominent hero's sexual identity isn't newsworthy
Lots of stuff makes it into the news cycle that isn't news worthy. Really, this is one of those things. The diversity thing is good and all. I support that. But I think we're well past the point where a comic character being gay is newsworthy. And is Alan Scott really a major character? I mean in the pantheon of DC characters, is he any bigger than Batwoman? At least she gets her own title. Besides how can he be gay? His one weakness is wood. Or maybe that's why he's gay and we should have seen this coming. Sorry. I know that's in really bad taste, but I couldn't resist.

I doubt they're troubled. It's intentional. They get their "Green Lantern Is Gay" headline without upsetting hardcore Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) fans.

My local news website had that exact headline. Well played, DC...

The Tiki Well we got Isiah and Elijah Bradley out of that... so while I did not like the original story THAT much it really did bear fruit. I expect the same from this.. I'm underwhealmed but I'm sure this will lead into some good stories somehow in the hands of competent writers. Also glad to see you say gay Green Lantern. I bet a bunch of message boards/tweets are calling him The Gay Lantern... it has a ring to it that I doubt idiots can pass up.

Not only is it the 4th Green Lantern they have already introduced(?), it is on Earth 2 so they have to describe all that to people 10 months after their wipe clean.
