While we are all off topic I just want to say. Darwyne Cook did the opening scene stuff for the Batman Beyond television show!? Matt Nixon informed me of this yesterday on twitter. I had no idea! The art on Minutemen is worth the price of admission in my book. We get to see a guy who operates on a level beyond the pack on a property that was way beyond the pack. I love it.

I really enjoyed Minutemen. Just the first few pages the panel to panel transitions made this fell very Watchmen-y.

I enjoyed Minutemen, but not so much for me to want to get the rest of the series. To me, it felt like it'll read better in trade, not enough happened for me in this first issue. Darwyn is pretty damn good, but for a monthly investment, I needed a bit more razzle dazzle or something.

I've decided I'm going to purchase these in collected form. I'm sure everyone was waiting on baited breath for my decision.

did this seem to make relatively no waves? or is it just me. so divisive that it was that it sent each party to its neutral corners. i feel like it, as far as coverage, it became just another comic. thats not good for the comic industry or dc.

Its a rough line but I love -
" Oh sweetie, your too young to hate. Wait until your older and the world gives you a good reason. Trust me, it wont let you down."
That's some well written dialogue in my opinion. I like the way this is looking art and writing.

I also really liked the drawing of the mother's reaction to Laurie asking if she would be alright. Amanda Connor did a great job of conveying the necessary emotion in that silent panel. That's tough to do convincingly. That's some well written dialogue in my opinion. I like the way this is looking art and writing. I'm definitely interested in picking it up and seeing where it goes.

Connor is really bringing it on those pages. I'll be getting all of the first issues since they were so cheap on DCBS. I'm happy to see that so far they are looking like quality. I don't need them to live up to Watchmen but I do want them obviously to be good comics.

I haven't picked up any BW stuff yet due to apathy, but my interest level is rising. I've decided I'm going to purchase these in collected form. I'm sure everyone was waiting on baited breath for my decision.
That's one of my favorite common word mistakes cause I like thinking about what "bait" your breath would have, and especially, what it might be trying to catch. If it just bugs you, sorry, but in case you care: "bated" breath is correct, as in "abated," giving the idea that your anticipation is so high that you're barely breathing.

I bait my breath with expensive perfume, hoping to attract wealthy dowagers who want to become patrons of the arts (to one very particular artist).

I agree. I actually read Minutemen #1 and thought it was fantastic. It was definitely a set-up issue but Cooke gave enough of story and re-introduction of the Minutemen to make it worth it.

Why did I read the Silk Spectre #1 forum comments on another comicbook website? While they were mostly positive there were a couple holier than thou dudes who keep spouting the same crap. I have to remember that there is mo place like home (i.e. the 11 O'clock forums).
Anyway, I loved Silk Spectre #1. Can't wait to see where it goes from there. I know a few of you passed on the back up. "couldn't be bothered when I realized it was just 2 pages....". Please do yourself a favor and take the time to read it. It is classic action comics in the great tradition of Russ Heath and beautiful to look at. I hope they collect it digitally for those who are not getting all of the books.

I really hope Amanda Conner gets another ongoing again. Love her stuff. Silk Spectre #1 was really good, then again Minute Men and Silk Spectre were the two books I was the most looking forward to.

I have the first four issues, only read two of them so far.
I really like Minutemen even though it was a lot of just setting up the players. Really well done, this feels like a Watchmen comic. I want the rest of the story. NOW.
Silk Spectre although equally well done ends up being too cutesy for my taste. If feels out of place with what Cooke was doing in MM. There are things that I absolutely love but they feel out of place for that universe, if it makes any sense. Possibly all intentional until a tonal shift later, but the only way to find out is to keep reading. As it stands it's an excellent issue.

Comedian. Besides the cover depicting him in the mask that he doesn't wear in the issue, this issue is by far my favorite. The art style isn't something I seek out, but the story was tight enough that my enjoyment wasn't put off at all. My favorite of the issues so far. Nite Owl. Mixed feelings about this one, it's hard to see where this is going because it moves so fast through the years. Yes and I'm aware that I could just as easily be complaining that the story was too decompressed if it went the other way. The humor felt a little out of place with the majority of the book being pretty bleak. It's competent, but I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone.
