Back from Heroes! Hung out with most everybody I knew plus a few. Didn't run into Dean. Next time!

From the art auction, I set my sights on the piece below by Jim Rugg, and everything went according to plan  Evil

Heroes was a blast. Took a lot of the SCAD workshops. Got the. New Crogan book from Schweizer, American Barbarian from Scioli, Underwater Welder from Lemiere and more. Listened to old stories from Jaime Hernandez and Louise Simonson. Even heard Paul Levitz cuss at members of one panel while he was sitting in the audience.

Also got MAPS: The Trouble with Lions into a lot of people's hands. I hope they enjoy them.

Oh and Mr. Pitzer also recommended me Cusp from the Adhouse booth and that was incredible as well.

I heard about that Paul Levitz panel discussion! Wish I could have seen it.

Glad you dug the Cusp. I think I mentioned that White Clay will be out later this fall?  Whistle

Campbell is damn lucky I didn't go to Heroes. Even if I didn't win that Rugg piece, he would've had to pay a LOT MORE to keep it out of my hands.  Shifty Eyes

Any other good loot at the auction? Is there a site that has all the pieces on display?

The auction was a little light compared to last year's. Nothing else stands out in my mind.

Heather takes a HUGE amount of photos, so here are some from the auction: http://www.flickr.com/photos/54091968@N04/sets/72157630300663034/

As far as other pieces:

Nathan Fox L&R wrestlers
Dave Cooper Adventure Time cover art
Noto Spidey/Gwen with Stan Lee signature
Nice Roger Langridge Popeye

I think that Pheonix made some money...

Took some crappy camera shots of the pieces that caught my eye.

This was just the first day. There was more the second day.

If I recall, the Brooks piece went for around $9,800.  Thinking

Was that a Simonson Beta Ray Bill print with Laura Martin colors, or a Simonson sketch with her colors?

If the latter, how much did that fetch?

Definitely going to be picking up White Clay. And the Comic Canon panel was awesome, even completely ignoring the Levitz outburst.

Yeah, Chiang's Wonder Woman is cool and all and we can see it any given month, but I'd rather know what the Mike Wieringo piece up for auction was.

You could have seen it any month when Wieringo and Waid were on the FF. It was a random FF page nothing show stopping given Mike's great body of work.

Considering Chiang's still working and I'm never getting anything new from Wieringo, my view is a little different than most.

I could be crazy, but I'm pretty sure Mr. Wieringo would want me to keep appreciating the awesome comics and artists that still work today.

The greater shame is that the comic industry is such a dump that insanely talented artists like Mike Zeck and Keron Grant have taken their talents to industries (licensing, film, video games) where they can make a living with their skills and we never get to behold their work in all it's glory again.

Hopefully some day that can be fixed and we'll stop being deprived the fantastic work of artists who are still among us.

Dude, I met Mike Zeck and got one of his older wonderful sketchbooks from him in person.  Beautiful B&W sketchbook with Punisher/Daredevil/Joe/80's yummy goodness.  And it was like the same size and feel as those 80's marvel magazines, but with a cardstock cover.  Best $20 I've spent in a while...
