Looks cool, I'll have to roll over there at some point (bummer that this is the 1st year in a while I'm not staying at the Bayfront).   I'd like to check out the 6 Batmobiles all in one spot......

Quote
BURBANK, Calif. (July 2, 2012) — For the first time ever, Warner Bros. Entertainment will present Extra at Comic-Con®, a free outdoor entertainment festival happening in San Diego’s Bayfront Park July 12–14 during Comic-Con International: San Diego. Bayfront Park is located between the San Diego Convention Center and the Hilton San Diego Bayfront hotel.

Located just steps from the Convention Center, Extra at Comic-Con will be a live, multi-day entertainment experience capturing all the excitement of the Studio’s fan-facing properties: From The Lord of the Rings to the DC Universe, they’re all here!

“Everyone at Warner Bros. Television approaches Comic-Con as a fan-first experience. It’s in our DNA, with everything we do — from panels to signings to our bags, posters and more — carefully curated with our fans in mind,” said Lisa Gregorian, Chief Marketing Officer, Warner Bros. Television Group. “With the Extra at Comic-Con space, we have created a free and fun outdoor entertainment destination for fans. In addition to having all the Batmobiles on display and game demos, we will be hosting interviews throughout the day on the Extra stage, as well as evening and night events such as screenings and live comedy and musical performances after the convention floor closes for the day. It’s additive to the experience of being at the Con.”

Extra at Comic-Con attractions include:
THE EXTRA STAGE
The centerpiece of this 60,000-square-foot outdoor entertainment event is the Extra stage. Featuring Q&As, live performances, screenings and talent interviews presented by the long-running hit TV entertainment magazine Extra, the stage will be a constant — and free — place for fans to go beyond the Con.

Stars from The Big Bang Theory, Fringe, The Vampire Diaries and more will appear live on the Extra stage to tape interviews with Extra’s on-camera hosts

Warner Bros. will also distribute the studio’s Comic-Con special edition of TV Guide Magazine — with four sets of collectible flip covers featuring the casts of The Big Bang Theory, Fringe, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries — at the Extra stage

A full live event schedule will be posted at the Extra stage and online at www.thewb.com/comiccon

ALL SIX BATMOBILES!

On display in “The Batcave”: all six Batmobiles from television and film! For the first time ever, Comic-Con fans will have the opportunity to see all of Batman’s iconic onscreen vehicles live and in person, from Adam West’s 1955 Lincoln Futura to the Tumbler from The Dark Knight trilogy.

Adam West’s 1955 Lincoln Futura. Designed by George Barris, this original Batmobile was featured in the cult classic television series and 1966’s Batman, the Movie.

Michael Keaton’s Batmobile from 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns. Sleek and powerful with a central turbine, the vehicles’ slightly retro design followed Tim Burton’s art deco look of the films.

Revamped for Joel Schumacher’s 1995 Batman Forever, with bat-lighting and extended fins, Val Kilmer’s hot rod had the ability to drive up walls.

Schumacher updated the Batmobile once again for George Clooney in 1997’s Batman & Robin. At 33 feet long and a top speed of 350 mph with afterburner thrust, this was the largest and fastest Batmobile on the road.

The Tumbler designed for Christopher Nolan’s 2005 Batman Begins and 2008’s The Dark Knight is the prototype military vehicle designed by the character Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman).

The unveiling of the replacement Camouflage Tumbler, to be seen in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, in theaters and IMAX July 20.

Would any of you fine people be willing to pick up the Udon Capcom Marvel versus Hardcover for me. Like that's one of the few things I'm mad I'm missing getting to cop (that and the Jem doll and the Mordicai toy)

But like CAPCOM MARVEL DRAWINGS ALL DAY!

DINNER WEDS (PREVIEW NIGHT):

Here's the deal:

I'm picking up my piece of Cerebus "grail art" on Weds night.  This thing was REALLY expensive.

I don't want to leave it laying around my hotel for the remainder of the con, nor do I want to leave it in my car, NOR do I want to walk around the con with it......

My wife will drive down to SD on Weds night to pick it up from me & bring it safely home.   Since it's crazy around the convention center, I'll likely meet her elsewhere, I'm thinking up in San Diego's "Old Town".

The Deal:

Dinner at the Old Town Mexican Cafe

http://www.oldtownmexcafe.com/

I have my car under the convention center, meet a bit before the show floor closes (let's say 8:45pm) and head out for dinner.

I can take 3 or 4 people along with me & I'll bring you back to the convention center area after dinner.

If other people have cars handy near the con, then we can get some more people up to Old Town.

Th Old Town Mexican Cafe has fabulous hand-made tortillas, and some of the best carnitas I've ever had.  If you've never been, it's worth a trip.

Who wants to join me?

Preorders make or break creator-owned comics

I'll be set up in as Atomic Tiki Studio in Small Press, M-14. Come out and say hi! I'll be alongside Jim Heffron of Lawdog Comics (M-15), and Chris Murrin, who's edited and/or written for both Atomic Tiki and Lawdog will be there, as well!

Additionally, I'm taking preorders (limited to 10) for 9x12 inked sketches that I'll draw at the show.* $50 gets you the character of your choice. I'm not sure how many slots will be open at the show, so slotting ahead of time really helps me schedule.

*Due to a ton of work, and being behind on a couple of commissions, I'm not taking preorders for artwork done prior to the con.

I'm FINALLY catching up on the hundreds of press emails that have been multiply like rabbits in my inbox, and slowly but surely I'm putting together a list of interviews/possible interviewees. A majority of my interviews will be conducted at the con by just approaching people and asking if they have time for an interview.

It's only a few days away now, and I'm fuckin' PSYCHED!

I've got tickets for Thurs and sun, but I'll be down there the whole week. Has anybody heard of any cool events or meet ups going on near the convention center? Trickster sounds cool, I'm sure I'll be checking that out. There is an Aqua bats concert that should be a lot of fun on sat. I also saw there is a zombie run at PETCO park which is quite tempting...

95% of those press e-mails have nothing to do with comic books......

Like you, any contact I make with comics folk is generally just by going to their booth/table & talking to them.

See you at the podcasting panel on Thurs.

Leaving in about 90 minutes.......

You guys watching the news that will be flooding the internet from panels at Con will be more "in the know" on everything happening than those of us who are actually there.

I look forward to checking out the forums after I get home to see what the "cool buzz" is that came out of con.

I'm going to be wasting my time talking to creators on the show floor & attending creator-based panels instead of the marketing hype panels that are the big draws.
