Do understand that I'm not foaming at the mouth or anything... I just think it's important to put the outrage into context since none of us can actually see each other. Oh of course. I think that, with few exceptions, even the most heated of conversations on these forums amounts to little more than an animated discussion had at a bar or in a hotel lobby at a con. I respect your response, and I'm in a similar boat. While I'll pick up the random trade from the library, I don't read any current Marvel title regularly at the moment. There are books that I'm mildly interested in catching up on or checking out sooner or later, but nothing is setting me on fire. I think we just look at things a tiny bit differently, because I feel like the onus for my dissatisfaction with Marvel is on me, and not on them. How I mean is I don't really think Marvel has changed much over the last 10 years (which I guess could be considered a problem). To me it just seems like Marvel is continuing to do what they do. It's just that my tastes and interests have changed and so the same old thing that would have worked on me in the past, isn't now. I just can't bring myself to fault them for not giving me what I think I want from them, when what I want exists elsewhere. Note: This isn't a thread about DC, but I feel similarly about the nu52 relaunch now that the dust has settled on that. It was more exiting before it happened than this Marvel news, and in that initial month of releases of first issues, but now that I know what that reboot/relaunch really is, that too just feels like it isn't for me. At least not right now. Barring 3 to 5 titles. Just for some perspective.

Maybe those few exceptions happened before I really started posting, but I havent experienced any of that at all. I agree that most disagreements could be taken as nothing more than animated debate. At least, I'VE never felt personally attacked for any of my thoughts. The general attitude of this forum has made me far less tolerantof sites where people attack each other and I find that I don't frequent them as often. Both the reboots/relaunches/whatevers of the Big Two increasingly make me feel like my time with them is done. Ive primarily always been a Big Two junkie and I find that Im getting into putting together a hard cover library of all the stories from my past. Plus, meeting and growing the friendships Ive made from here is now what my hobby has become....way more than current Marvel/DC

I'm not sure if I've read the release thoroughly enough. This is not a hard or a soft reboot from my understanding. This is a relaunching of a few titles under a new banner "Marvel Now". It's still in the current 616 with no continuity shifting. How is this any different then when they relaunched Avengers, New avengers, Secret Avengers and Avengers Acadamy two years ago under the "Heroic Age" banner. Or even the more Recent relaunch of the beloved Daredevil. If alls this is is a relaunch with new creative teams, lineups and numbering what's the big deal? It happens every two or three years nowadays. Why is everyone upset of new numbering. Maybe I'm missing something from the press release, please tell me.

True. Given the fact that readership continues to slip, I'd guess less people are in the "I don't care if they restart with a new #1 and a new team every 2 years & then go back to the original numbering for an anniversary issue before going back to #1 again" camp. Maybe this will be a real change for the better unlike the last 4 or 5 times Marvel did this. Not on the same scale, I realize, they generally do new #1s on a continual basis in dribs & drabs, not 1 new #1 a week over 4 or 5 months. Doing it over a long time just seems like it's intended to keep them in the news for a long time and it may backfire because the "Look! New #1s" may start to seem like **yawn** "Oh, it's another #1"

it looks like they didn't learn from their mistakes already, Hickman writing 2 Avengers books at the same time with one of them being bi-weekly is a huge mistake. Also the title "New Avengers" was clearly a part of Bendis' era and the name had a point when they started, using it again now in this era shows that they don't know what they are doing anymore.
Having a book called just "Avengers" by Hickman and Opena would signify a change, having a second book especially one called "New Avengers" at the same time written by the same guy dilutes the line right out of the gate.

unless he's planning a F4/FF type relationship between them. then it strengthens it, in my opinion.

Marvel NOW! hearkens back to 11 years ago, when Marvel found great success employing a simple formula: great artist plus great writer plus great character plus great story. SWISH! You gotta love editorials.

That I get. I think I stay away from news releases enough where I don't get up in arms over things like this. I agree that simple re numbering "with purpose" is absolutely not news. Travis

I've never heard so much talk about big name and maybe not so big? creators ending runs and having to go somewhere so they are starting new runs unless they stopped writing for Marvel before. Either that or it San Diego time. It is many at around the same though so I look forward to more announcements. Sure there will be something for me in all those titles. I can see that Cap & team-up book going away.

I still don't know why people hate on press releases. These are great creative teams. I think some people will never be happy with Marvel.

It's a delicate balance which, if ever upset by someone changing their mind about anything, will cause a great cataclysm with the fire and the shaking and the glaven.

What are they avenging anyway? Whatever wrong they're trying to avenge, they're certainly taking their sweet time about it.
