I know this isn't your point but isn't AvX leading into it? We know what's leading to it. Shouldn't people be responding to the images posted and the brief blurbs explaining the new titles and who will be working on them? I'll grant you, there isn't much to react to in the promotional blurb. I don't think there are any real dramatic changes there, but why's it bug you if someone doesn't like what they're seeing or reading?
I think your right evaD. Thats what consumers are supposed to react to. As comic readers we feel a loyalty to marvel and DC in a way a movie viewer wouldn't see a crap movie poster and read an uninspired movie synopsis and watch the movie anyway to give the company writer and director a fair shot. We as comic breeders are a very strange breed

It's a callback to Amazing Fantasy #15 and the confrontation with the burglar. You're like a savant, David! I had completely forgotten that his pupils were visible in that scene. I wonder if that's something Quesada did for the promo image alone or if MarvelNow Spidey will have pupils ...

Isn't that a S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem on the little dude?
Yes, it looks like it. I think I read somewhere that it goes with the Hulk.

You're right, that isn't my point. I'm talking only about the Marvel NOW image. Not about solicitations (since I don't read those) or about any articles linked to within this thread (since I haven't clicked on any). As for why it bugs me: I'm not a fan of negativity. So I should have done what I've been doing (save for a sentence or three) and stayed out of the topic because of where it was headed.

I am confused.I don't see that much difference in the character designs.Iron man looks the same but with black instead of red.Thor looks the same but with 2 swords instead of a cape.Wolverine looks no different at all.Invisible woman looks the same,Nova looks the same.Biggest difference is Cyclops an no one cares about him cuz he is a dick.I don't see how people can complain about something they have not read yet.Last time I checked there are a hell of alot of good comics out there that aren't Marvel.Just don't buy them if they make you so mad.Keeping your money in your pocket is the only complaint they will here.

I wish they would have incorporated some blue in cyclops' costume. He has never not had some blue in his costume. I think the coolest think about cyclops is that hes not cool. hes not a badass. he never looks like a badass. Cyclops is captain america for the x-men. He is meant to be the guy who will be the moral compass and leadership of the x-men. Blue always seemed to fit with the leadership role. Captain america, Superman, Leonardo. Again its a nit pick. but Cyc in all red just seems to not fit who he is.

I am confused.I don't see that much difference in the character designs.Iron man looks the same but with black instead of red.Thor looks the same but with 2 swords instead of a cape. If you look closely, there are other changes. Thor is not only missing the cape, he's wearing a leather skirt/loincloth and his helmet appears to have been re-designed to de-emphasize the wings (or perhaps it's just drawn off-model?). Unless I'm mistaken, Iron Man is actually quite a bit different. Changing his armor from gold and red to gold and black is a very significant change but his chest now has three glowing "energy circles" and there are two on his shoulders as well. His upper shoulders have a sort of scalloped armor on them and his abdomen is broken into flat planes of armor. I haven't seen an issue of Iron Man in the last few months but unless I'm mistaken, this is pretty much a complete redesign. Captain America is clearly a complete redesign as well, as is Cyclops and giving Hulk armor and Spider-Man pupils may not seem like huge changes but they are pretty significant breaks from the traditional appearance of those iconic characters. I don't see how people can complain about something they have not read yet. It's not really necessary to read a comic in order to react to something visual, like a teaser image showing new costumes and redesigned characters. Jim

Reacting is one thing, having a stroke is another lol.You can't convince me these are major redesigns. The characters have minor changes like this all the time.If we are gonna get mad every time Iron Man's armor changes we are gonna be mad alot.I for one am excited to see what Hickman and Remender are gonna do on Avengers books. And Jerome Opena drawing the Avengers sounds great too.

Reacting is one thing, having a stroke is another lol. Who's having a stroke? You can't convince me these are major redesigns. Really? Cyclops and Captain America don't look like major redesigns to you? Nobody is saying ALL of the characters have been seriously redesigned but in a few cases, it's obvious. The characters have minor changes like this all the time.If we are gonna get mad every time Iron Man's armor changes we are gonna be mad alot. I'm not mad at all. I just don't care for some of the changes. The only person who seemed mad about this was Jonathan and I doubt he was foaming at the mouth about it. Jim

Doesn't Cyclops change his costume alot?I avoid X-men comics like the plague but he always looks different to me.I think he looks fine other than the bubble head.Cap is the only one that looks alot different to me.Look at all those lines on him lol. That is gonna be alot of work for an artist. And Iron man used to have new armor like every six months.I don't have a problem with people having opinions on this picture but damn how can one image generate so much rage lol.

WHY Does Thor need a sword? Let alone 2 swords? Why does Hulk need armor? Its like in the last two years the industry collectively thought, "remember back in the early 90's when we were all driving sports cars and buying mansions....Lets do that again." Do they not understand that it was the belief that people were going to put their kids through college by buying 30 copies of every issue put out and not ridiculous costumes and armor and ponytails that made all the money. I may be out of comics all together if this poster portends to the same level of gimmickry as the new52 bullshit. I would have to be pissed to say I am gonna stop buying comics. That last line is responsible for most of what I have posted in this thread. There has to be comics out there you would love other than marvel and I have been a Marvel fan all my life.Reading A wider range of books has made me love comics that much more.An issue of Amazing Spider-man is a great way to wash down an intense trade of Scalped.

Jim The pupils aren't the only change for Spider-man, look at his arm - the red part comes to a point on his shoulder rather than running down to connect to his glove. Rocket Raccoon has an extra gun on his back. Nova's helmet is silver instead of gold. Cyclops has X face now. And for the coup de grace, the Invisible Woman is visible and her hair is a different blond.

Jim
I wasnt even mad so much as dissapointed that for the second time in two years one of the big two went through a linewide re-design that seemed 90's focused I.E. Armor on characters that don't need armor and making costumes look more extreme. Giving swords to a god who is holding mjolnir.lol I am not mad I was pointing out that 90's style re-designs and 12 covers of a #1 issue isnt likely to rebirth millions in sales. The 90's were the nineties because a few people were sold 60's baseball cards and comics and everyone assumed that x-men 1 and its 20 covers would be worth thousands a peice 30 years down the road.
I like superhero comics. I read other stuff but for me, not unlike others Superhero comics keep me in comics. there are great western comics. there are better western novels. superheros are the thing comics beat every other media at. That said I am also basing this on the New 52. not just this image. I read a lot of the new 52. Thats not having a stroke thats a reader having about 90% of the titles he reads completely rebooted in the past two years. I would rather a change of those in creative positions and in charge at those companies. That's the companies having a stoke over shrinking numbers. Lets not write better stories, lets change costumes and reset the universe with the same damn creators
