oh man i hope this is true, could be a serious flop but i've been so happy with what marvel studios has done so far... I'll be optimistic as hell on this and say I'm incredibly excited(if it happens).

Just hope they add Nova to the team, mostly because I love me some Nova. And also to have a properly powered up Thanos they are going to need some heavy hitters on the team. Wouldn't surprise me if they add in some of the cosmic "big guns", Quasar, Nova, Gladiator maybe. Then have a smaller set of the Guardians we have now. So like Starlord, Drax, and a chick.

As much as it would be awesome, I wouldn't put money on Groot or Rocket.

I would love to see Thor 2 create a Beta Ray Bill and thus have him cast into Guardians.

Very intrigued. I just want to see Rocket Raccoon but with the darkly-comic edge of that Mignola/Mantlo 4-issue mini.

I think this movie could be a lot like how the first "Blade" was where the studio takes relatively unknown characters and makes a cool movie out of them.  If they make this one for the fanboys I think it will turn out to be a dud; but if they make it where the average moviegoer knows what's going on then it could a huge hit.

I'll be more excited when we get a cast and director lined up.

The Guardians seem like such an odd choice. I think it's cool, but never in a million billion years would I have thought this would even be a possibility.

And did you ever think you would see a Total Recall remake either?

I'd love to see this as an animated flick so they can go nuts with the SFX and whatnot. I'd still watch a live action version though if they make one.

Can't say I find any remake surprising after the last 10 years of Hollywood becoming remake central.

Matt Smith should play Starlord.

Rocket should be voiced by Mark Hamill

That was so weird to see the terms 616 and Earth 691 in there. Less confusing to just say alternate future earth. Maybe I'm just nit picking.

i'll believe it when i see a trailer.  not to be a downer, but rocket and groot will be a hard sell for just about everyone that's not a comic reader.

Yeah.....I don't get it. Marvel Studios has seemed to make some well calculated film investment decision with it's VERY established characters/ licensed products, many of whom have been used previously in either live action or animated properties.

But the Guardians? That seems completly out of left field from the plan they have revealed thus far.

Unless they are hoping that Bendis writing a Guardians based title for a year or so beforehand is enough magic to lay the groundwork hype before the film is released (which I would label a delusional theory).

But hey, if they go to the trouble of making it I will happily give them my money.

But very strange......

I don't think these Marvel movies care much about the hype or synergy that comes from the comics. Thor, Cap, and Iron Man did have some cache before becoming movie properties, but I think a cool looking movie that is related to the juggernaut that is Avengers is what I have to imagine Marvel is banking on.

What I do hope is that this movie results in more sales of the trades of the excellent Abnett/Lanning/Pelletier run.

I see your point, but the hype is already there from the Avengers film.

I'm sure each Marvel film will have after-credit scenes tying into this and Avengers 2. Also whose to say this is the Guardians from the comics? We may be getting bigger name characters in here. I'm still crossing my fingers for Rocket Raccoon.
