Well I broke through my drought of not reading my regina pile w/ the 1st book of Promethea.  The adventures of Sophie Bangs is confusing from the start but the other previous Promethea set a course that leads the reader of a grand adventure.  Do I understand it all?  Heck no not even close.  I wonder if Alan Moore was drinking heavily & doing some kind of drugs at the same time while writing this up.  The art on the other hand well it is a true feast that carries the reader along while the words make some since just not much.  The imaginary & the real worlds is a fine line that the heroine is experiencing while a friend of Sophie's is doing her best to help her in the real world.  The first book of the series was meh while the art surberb so I may come back to series at some point in the future just not anytime soon.  I enjoyed Top Ten, Swamp Thing, Watchmen & his DC heroes adventures much greater than this.  Promethea gets a 7 out of 10 stars rating overall.

I will try to read another collection tomorrow.

I've given up on having a regina pile. Instead I see my collection as a small library with a ton of cool stuff that I'll get around to reading when I have more time in my life. This means that I don't buy stuff unless I have spare money and see a title that I really want. It also means that I don't stress out about not reading what I do buy anymore, since it's less of a short-term project and more of a long-term collection.

This best describes my approach too.  I don't have a regina pile; I have a regina list, and when I finish reading one thing, I browse my list, figure out what looks like fun to read next, and pull it out of my library.  If I read a book a day, I'd have reading material to last me well into 2013, but who cares -- I'll read it all eventually (unless I die first, in which case somebody is going to inherit a kick-ass comics library).

I have done really well as of late.I force myself only to buy as much as I have time to read.I do this by never going over my monthly budget even if it means making real tough decisions on what gets bought and what doesn't.not always easy to hold of on things I want lol.

I prefer single issues over TPB's so I do my best to keep mine in check by only buying back issues at conventions. I only go to one convention a year. In Chicago it's usually either C2E2 or Wizard-world. I keep a wish list throughout the year and pick up between 150-200 issues. I like 80's marvel mini's and can usually find the full sets pretty cheap. I pepper them in with my weekly pull reading throughout the year. I can get the previous year stack worked through and be ready to repeat next year/convention. I only get Walking Dead & Fables in trade so I can keep up with those.

Singles arey biggest problem at the moment. After the DC 52 I got in the habit of having 10 books a week in my LCS standing order, but only reading 2 or 3 of them. They god damn add up after a while.

Yeah I have a regina pile issue too, especially at the start of each month when the DCBS order comes in. Heck, I've always had a problem, even before I started using DCBS. My problems are:

1) I'm a completist that must have any #1 that looks even remotely interesting and I have a hard time dropping books after that, usually because of my original plans to throw a bind together.

2) I love ebay and bargain bin deals, especially minis and any possible future binding project.

3) Being in and out of the hobby throughout my life has caused me to miss out on some key works. When I see them and I've got some extra cash, I buy them even when I know it will be awhile before I'll read it.

4) I like shiny things and when something else catches my eye I'll tackle it, leaving a book or series behind that is only partially read. No ADD. I just get excited about reading comics!

The 999 Reading Challenge is helping with some books that I've put off for too long, but I still continue to sink when new books arrive.

Advice: Don't worry about it too much. Read when and what you want. Knocking them out little by little each day/week will help, just don't make it a chore and get burned out and lose the fun.

I read classic Marvel Team Up 150 to get me started then the following issues:

Fatale 4-6
Saga 3 & 4
Batman 8-10
Batwoman 8-10

Collections
American Vampire vol. 2 HC
Uncanny X-Men Masterworks vol. 5 & 6 HC

I am making progress but the news for BPRD 1948 & Daredevil End of Days miniseries has me pumped for the fall.   So after today (Tuesday) I will be finished w/ my weekly errands and make room to start reading again Wednesday evening.
