I probably should have been clear when I say Desperate I don't mean in terms of the two guys doing the writing and art. Williams and Gaiman are two of the guys in American comics who have tons of options.
I don't think you can use the term for DC either. They can ask Gaiman and he can do the book or not - without him, it really isn't as news worthy. And as far as the end result, even if DC is somehow desperate for the book because without it they'll go out of business or something, if the creative people are doing it because they want to, that's what will come across on the page.

If a company gets criticised for something like this then they really can't win!

Personally I am really looking forward to it.

Listening to Neil's reading from the comic reminded me how extraordinary it was and what a gifted writer he is.
And the art? Nuff said!

As much as I really loved the Sandman I was very disappointed in it's final arc/chapter.  I am hoping this addendum to the Sandman Mythos fills that void for me.   Yes

A great writer paired with a great artist; that's a win for everybody.

Sandman stories can be about pretty much anything. I'm not worried about the well running dry.

You mean "The Wake"?  I personally loved it. It was an excellent way to wrap up that story.

Hearing that my favorite artist will draw the forthcoming mini-series prompted me to start re-reading the series for start to finish, which I have been planning to do for a while.

I have to say the first issue is one of the best first issues in comics and really plants the seeds for the series.

Roll On Floor Laughing

Heh.

The news made me consider how improbable it must be for a single comic series (and a defunct one at that) to bring a person back to comics twice in their lifetime.

 Shifty Eyes

And I agree with others -- THE WAKE was the perfect way to cap the series. And while I (mostly) enjoyed ENDLESS NIGHTS, I will always look at THE WAKE as the (satisfying) end of the series.
