Cloud Atlas Movie

I have always been a big fan of The Wachowskis and their style of direction.  I think I am one of the few that really enjoyed their last movie, Speed Racer.   So when I saw the trailer for there next movie my mouth hanged open for the whole five minutes.    The scope of this movie looks epic and beautiful.  They are also co-directing it with Tom Tykwer, who is best known for directing Run Lola Run.  I can't wait to see this.

David Mitchell is a brilliant writer.  He's up there with Pynchon and DFW in my book.  Thanks for the heads up.

The Fountain was a good flick, anytime I get Mogwai music with Space Wolverine footage I'm happy. Interestingly enough the Cloud Atlas book and screenplay for The Fountain were written around the same time.

Having not read it I don't know if they have anything more in common then LOVE ACROSS TIME type pathos. Just the vibe I get from the trailer.

and hey, if it inspires him/her to make a movie on par with the original matrix, more power to him/her!


my knee-jerk reaction is, that its going to be a damn hard movie to sell. i'm sure it'll be a beautiful film, maybe even exciting, but i'm not sure how joe public will react. its certain this movie is a labor of love, but it does have to make some money, right? if only to break even?

i plan on seeing it, but i don't have that thrill i had from watching trailers for the matrix or V.

No, no, no.  Trust me, dude.  It's more than that.  The Fountain was just a screenplay, Cloud Atlas is a work of genius.  I do however have that sinking feeling that it's not gonna make people go out and buy Blood Meridian after watching No Country for Old Men, but one can hope.

This may be on my Audible list after watching that trailer. 

I hear nothing but good things about the book so I'm hoping the movie will be great as well. It is a fantastic trailer.
