I finally found someone who drinks more soda than I do. Wood, that's pretty crazy. I have a three can at work habit. soda bros. Luckily I have a fridge in my dept and I buy cans by the case to save cash.* *I save the cans and my niece recycles them to buy print & nook books

As much as I love Transformers, there have been very few comics I have read. Mostly because the art needs to be what fits my mold of what I like about the Transformers.
Most of the Dreamwave art floated my boat, but Wildman's stuff just doesn't do it for me. They are expressive yes, but to me they don't look robotic enough. They're drawn like humans, then the tech is just slapped on top. It throws off their scale and proportions.
The coloring has a lot to do with it, too.

I did tweet and retweet that Scott Pilgrim color code news but to be fair I think it was Joey Captds9e who did it first. I just followed his lead.

Thanks for the episode. Have to agree with Vince about the Fantastic Four art, nothing against Bagley, but would love the likes of Gabriel Bá & Fabio Moon to rotate art duties (or if I'm been honest a regular Fraction/Bá/Moon book of any description, my sense of entitlement isn't too fussy ) As an idea that is in no way intended as a slight to Bagley's talent, The Fantastic Four is The World's Greatest Comics Magazine so it would be nice if Marvel announced that it would rotate the world's greatest comic book artists (which includes Bagley & the Allreds IMO) on the book - would love the likes of Shakey Kane, Paul Pope & Becky Cloonan on it.

Didn't you guys recently talk about Old Man Logan? I'm typing this as I listen. You guys remember that This, Old Man Logan and Millar/Hitch's FF all connect together.

That might matter if I gave a crap about Millar's Old Man Logan or Fantastic Four. As a standalone story, I enjoyed 1985.

Vince hit right it right on the head what I though of when I first cracked open Regeneration 1. It was like it was August 1991. The story looks the same and read just as well. And #82 was even better with Grimlock coming in. I loved his book and am in the process of re-reading all my Titan trades again. Transformers is probably the one thing that rivals floating my boat as much as Iron Man. I was actually at Target looking at the new Fall of Cybertron figures when Vince started the TF talk and my final Junkion was at my door when I got home today.

Yeah, I remember Millar talking about a connection amongst the works. Didn't look for it - or cared about it - then, not looking for it - or caring about it - now.

Love Transformers. Haven't tried ANY of the IDDubz stuff yet but I'm going to get Regeneration because of the old continuity which I love.
They even tied in the pretender shells and those were horrible designs

It's great to get more enjoyment out of comics and can avoid comic news sites. I go to fewer than I did before. I mostly check the headlines. I just can't quit them and blogs since I don't want to miss something or discover something new. There's some quirky features out there too like shelf porn. I don't think I listen to any specific just recap comic news podcasts or even know if they are out there.
Nowadays I often find I enjoy the big company crossover events more by reading the tie-ins in the books I'm already reading by good writers and getting recapped by podcasts and the internet on the main series. Enjoyed Avengers Initiative so much more than Secret Invasion itself.
Bagley (and to some degree Larsen) were my definitive Spider-man artists back in the day so it's hard for me not to be fond of his work.
That was enough incentive to get me to finally read that Transformers .5 free comic book issue I have sitting around. The only Transformers trades that I got on clearance at a book story was Primal Scream. Stuff I should get around too.
Children books are sometimes crazy expensive. I think it was Owly that I saw was a 40 page hardcover for $20. That makes Marvel's 4 issue collections look like a downright deal.

Allred will kill FF and I think Bagley is an odd choice for Fantastic Four. What Happen to Stegman?? This guy better get some love an finally be put on a book for more than like 3-4 issues.
Also just got Super Spy by Kindt last week due to my reading Mind Management and loving it so far. Weird how sometimes you guys talk about what I'm digging into. Maybe our wives will start getting their period together too.
Kind of off topic...but about 3 years ago I started reading Amazing Spider Man from issue#1. I got this box set of dvd collection with like the entire digital collection for like 30 bucks and I decided to read from the beginning. I finally, today, read ONE MORE DAY in hard copy issues. All I have to say is WTF!!!!!

"Toy boat" makes me laugh every time.
I've never actually checked out any of Matt Kindt's stuff, but Super Spy sounds really cool. Really piqued my interest.
Belated happy birthday Vince!

I really enjoyed the episode. I think I’m getting to be of the same mind as Vince with the monthly books from the big 2. I know that what’s between the covers is good but if I just don’t care about the content then I shouldn’t be buying just for habits sake. I think the visual aid of a removal van full of my short boxes and boxes full of trades loaded in to a removal van recently helped to bring about the jump off. Its exactly how Wood said it, if I cant remember what I read then is it really worth buying or storing? I am loving getting caught up on trades and hardcovers that have been piling up. As far as the events go I think that we look forward so much to the wrap up of an event. Whilst we’re in it we want it to be over either because the story has us excited and we want it to be an amazing final act. Or because its poor and we want to forget it ever happened. Of late though I think the events have come so thick and fast that we’re in the “thank god that’s over” mode when the next event is advertised so I know that I’ve been less interested as I’m enjoying the break. Blackest Night was the last event I enjoyed. As soon as it was over Brightest Day began and then Flashpoint. I ran for the hills. I want to enjoy the world that a good event leaves behind as opposed to quickly looking for the next one.
Oh and David. It only took your mention of Long Halloween to remind me that I hadn’t got Dark Victory yet. So I popped to the shop and picked it up. So thanks. I guess.
